Just picked up the world's ugliest rifle

I took 2 pistols I inherited and I didn't want and 2000 rounds of 9mm ammo to the hock shop. I needed a rifle for my night scope. My other rifle has a 26" stainless bull barrel on it and it is heavy.

The only candidate in .223 they had that fit the bill was a unfired Remington 700 VTR. So I traded. But that is one ugly rifle.

I thought you were going to say Hi-point carbine. haha JK

Magpul makes a great stock for it! Friend bought one and loves it.

It has a muzzle break. That should really help with the recoil. On a .223. Get it, recoil.

(you see, the .223 has hardly any recoil...ah nevermind)

He said ugly.......not ugly AND doesn't work. LOL!

We should have a Biggest POS handgun/rifle thread cuz Ive got a prizewinner!!
The VTR in 223 is actually probably a decent rifle after the stock issues are resolved as with all rifles of this era.
There is one in 22-250 in the local gunshop w/a ported 22"bbl after porting 20" that's just not enough bbl for a 250. Make sure to give us a range report Ive always wondered about the triangular ported bbl n how they shoot.

It will help with the noise though

On a side note, I had a VTR in .308 and it was a shooter.

My fathers old Rohm 22 revolver. Just as dangerous to shoot as it would be to be shot at with it. And bxtt ugly to boot.

Must have been some junky pistols.

They were. S&W model 39, alloy version and a 32 auto from WWII made for the French by Spain. I had no use for them and needed another rifle for night, so it was a good deal for me.

Ammo was 40 years old, lucky if it fired.

I can at least stand to look at that Remington VTR....I have to say, anything Blaser makes, anything Hi-Point makes, the Browning automatic 22, Squires Bingham M-16, that ridiculous looking Rhino revolver, any rifle with a Mannlicher stock...there was a few others, but mercifully I forgot them...make me blow a four inch column of hot vomit horizontally all over the wall that is four feet away!!!!! and you thought the Remington was ugly???? Dude, google some of the above "images" and have a look...suggest you have a puke bucket ready first.

Ya, the triangle is supposed to be more rigid than a regular ofthesame weight. I kind of like them, but i like quirky stuff.

I have one in 223 and I like the way it fits me. I like the style of stock, but its nothing special. mine is around MOA with factory ammo so far but I am starting to reload and its already looking promising. A couple of my first three shot groups in load development were 3/4 at 100, and thats out of my first 20 reloads. So far I've had the best luck with factory stuff in the 60 gr range of bullet weight.

TI dont know if the brake helps with muzzle jump. but I know I don't shoot mine without hearing protection. its as loud as any other gun I shoot.
