Juuuuuuussttt about had it with Foxpro....

Man am I frustrated. I have always heard good things about Foxpro, so this is about enough to make me switch up and go another route if I have too.

Bought a Spitfire a month ago, new at Bass Pro. Right out of the gate had probs in the field, remote wouldnt shut off, (had to take battery out every other time to get it to turn off), speaker was pretty crackly on pup distress. Now I understand this is their economy version, but even paying $200 for an e-caller I want a solid set up that functions correctly. I can handle the lower volume controls and limited calls on it, I knew all that going in. My buddy is having same prob with his.

So I returned it and upgraded to a Firestorm. Much much better, though first time int he field it would play all calls except Bay Bee Cottontail would NOT come on no matter what I did. Just a pain in the [beeep] if you pay $420 for a unit it should be working.

Anyone else having these probs consistently, and what unit are you using instead that's a $4-500 unit you are satisfied with. I am hunting Missouri, average shot 100 yards or less, lots of time and intersections with wide open field, so I dont need a prairie blaster or anything matter of fact the Spitfire was loud enough. Just want something I dont have to get up in the middle of the stand and fiddle with if I dont have to.

Contact FoxPro and they WILL make it right. I have never heard of FoxPro not taking care of a problem. I certainly do understand your frustration though.

actually i am seeing that quite often, they gave great customer service. the thing is though, i dont want to have to be messing with calling and shipping if that's the case, i'd rather just have a better unit if the others out there are holding up better. not sure if the primos calls are having the same probs or the other calls out there, but you'd think for $500 you wouldnt have to mess with this stuff.

maybe i am a bit green with the e-callers and it's the norm, but it sure shouldnt be.

i have a firestorm an my bat bee cottontail works an everything else i think some get lucky an some aren't.Bt call Foxpro an talk to them .

"it's not if your FOXPRO fails its when"

Look at some of the other brands i hear the wildlife technology's callers are good minsaka seems to have a good rep. Kanatitek has some great callers in that price range. There's definately other callers great callers out there

Any company can produce a lemon now and again.

Callem up, they will hook you up like a tow truck..I'm sure of it.

I've used FP CS with 100% positive results

didnt spill anything on them, fresh outta the box on all 3 of them we've had these probs. the spitfire i will chalk up to being a cheaper caller, no probs there a bit annoying but i understand you get what you pay for.

I have had my furry for a few years now no problems at all after I got the good batterys in it I love the call ! I don't see many post on here with bad things to say about foxpro ! I think they are the best e call out there !!

I have had really good service out of all the spitfires I had... I switched to a FX-5 just or the sounds it would hold....
I have just gotten a scorpion and am anxious to see how it does... I like the fact it will play every thing.... MP-3's and Wav. files....

Call them ..they have always given me great service

I will offer up a much more economical alternative:

Scientific Dimensions Hand Held Caller - with an external speaker that fits on top of smaller speaker.

It is not wireless.
(But to me, that does not matter, because I think placing the remote in a fields increases the odds of getting busted after sneaking into a set spot - so I rarely do it).

You can remove the external speaker, marry it to the handcontrol via wire - I have 200 feet of wire on a wire spool for quick deploy without tangles - in the rare cases that I place the speaker away from me.

I have 6 different soundsticks for coyote, crow, deer, etc that they sell for $15 ea today.

Uses 3 AA batteries in external speaker, 3 AAA's in handheld unit.

The entire gizmo fits inside my vest pocket when on the move- which is a big plus for me.

I've had it for over 5 years, works great in all weather, batteries last forever, sound controls very smooth from blaring to soft, and the best part -the critters respond to it.

My total investment was under $150.

********
Is it in the same league with a $400 Foxpro, no.

But I didn't (and won't) shell out big $ when unnecessary.

that's my 2cents worth.

i am just gonna call them monday, thanks guys. gman i actually used to use my Iphone and a wire to a spraypainted cd player out to about 50 feet but just became a pain in the [beeep] esp on all day hunts unravelling that stuff and packing it around so i gave it to a young kid just getting started. not a fan of the wires, but it worked fine

John, last fall I used my brothers Spitfire for the first time and I had problems changing calls and the volumn. The buttons did not respond like I felt they should. I thought maybe it was just me getting excited as I had instant reply from coyotes. I tried it back at his house and it worked fine. I bought myself a new Spitfire this past Christmas and have used it about 10 times. Once the sound went dead in the middle of a cycle. I shut it off and restarted it and it has been fine since. I have had the odd time the sound item will not immediately change when I press send/pwr or not mute wont work right away. I put some double sided tape on those buttons and I seemed to get a better response. I like the call and have had some success with it but yes, the odd time it does not respond right away. I'm still not sure its me or the call. Of course it always works at home with no problems.

thanks jackindistress, got it and replied.

hugo, that's my point. even if you pay $200 shouldnt have to mess with it like that. both my spitfire and my buddies wouldnt shut off one time, shut the hand remote off it kept going lol! had to get up and shut it off by hand, i wanted to sit in silence and wait but it wouldnt stop.

My first spitfire I had to send back because it didn't work right out of the box. I had tech support on the phone and still couldn't get it to work. Sent it back and they sent me a new one. It's been going strong now for 2 years.

John, you bring up an interesting point that I thought was just the way the spitfire worked...........that is, I also have turned my remote control SEND/PWR button off and the spitfire speaker just keep on playing. So I pressed the mute button to make it go quiet Any help from others on this particular item....does the remote indeed shut the spitfire speaker off or is the on/off button on the spitfire speaker the only way to shut the speaker off ???
....HOLD ON......while someone may have the answer...I just re-read the operating guide (are guys suppose to do that?) and it appears both the speaker and hand remote power are separate.....

I have had a FX3 and FX5. Had to send the FX5 back for some work in which they fixed it no questions asked. I now have the scorpion and had something in the board go bad and they fixed it promptly and no questions asked. I was like you at first thinking that for the money nothing should go bad. But we are using fragile electronics outside in incliment weather and they fix the problem and have you back up and running no questions asked, so I will just deal with it to know that if something does happen it will be fixed.
