Juuuuuuussttt about had it with Foxpro....

I had two early Furys. Nothing but problems. Each time Foxpro fixed quickly but I was out a call and shipping each time. I bought an MA21 and haven't had a lick of trouble in two and a half years. I like the remote way better on te fury but the remote range is better on the MA21 and you don't have to elevate the call. If you could program the MA21 like old Bill said we would be able to by now it would be great.

So there you have it neither one of them are perfect!

Make absolutely sure you have BRAND NEW batteries especially with the spit fire issues you were having. The firestorm problem might have just had a problem loading the sound correctly to the caller.

But yes, as you read and found out, turning the power off on the remote will only turn the power off on the remote. Not the caller. Mute is a good button for that.:)

I hate when the damm instructions explain how this crap works.

My thoughts exactly. Wonder when they will come out with a mind controled version? Hmmmm

Mine is the same way. I have to hold the off button on remote now for over 10 sec for the remote to turn off. My high pitched sounds resonate and crackle on volume 5. The caller shuts off after about 2 hrs of running on volume 5.
I have to get up and turn caller off then back on and play on volume 4 and get maybe 15 minutes more out of it.
It will be going on sale soon when ever I get the alpha dogg. I don't care to send the caller in every week when something goes wrong. All the batteries are brand new.And this has happened since the purchase of the spitfire.
I also would expect better for 200$. I feel your pain.

compaq12,

First, are you sure the batteries are actually good batteries? I have seen brand new batteries that were not good batteries at all. It sounds like what you are experiencing is definitely battery related. To have the sounds crackle at half volume, and to get short run times are 95% of the time related to poor batteries.

I see that you are in PA. And, I certainly don't think you will be sending the caller in every week. You are in PA, so we are right in your back yard. You could stop by, and we'll take care of any problems you ever have. As you can see, every caller out there will have an issue. It's how it's taken care of that really separates the companies apart. I apologize that you are having an issue. I'm just not convinced it's the caller right now.

If your caller is shutting off when you have it on volume level 5, that for sure sounds like a battery issue. I found that good quality rechargeable batteries work best in mine. The cheap dollar store type batteries will not last long.

You need a good quality 9 volt in the remote also. The remote will take longer to respond in cold weather.

"The caller shuts off after about 2 hrs of running on volume 5." (Surely you are not letting it run constantly for 2 hours?)

PS: Also, the guy that started this thread got his problem taken care of.......he just didn't bother to update his status.

I've been using Foxpro e-calls for the past 10 years. Two 416B's, two FX3's, and one FX5 The only problems I've had have been poor remote range on an FX3, and a broken battery wire inside the FX3. I was told to elevate the call, which worked, but was not really feasable when hunting flat open soybean stubble fields. I just learned to live with it. Foxpro repaired the broken battery wire for me when I had the call updated to an FX5. Since then I've started using a Foxpro wall charger and Foxpro rechargeable batteries, so I no longer have to remove my battery tray to recharge batteries. Since upgrading to an FX5 I no longer have remote range issues, and the call is much more responsive to inputs from the remote.
All in all, I've found my Foxpro calls to work as advertised, and of high quality. Foxpro has taken care of the few problems I've had with no hesitation.

Thanks for the concern Mike and all and I do greatly apologize to you Mike and your company for the comments I made prematurely. The batteries I used was enerigzer and I never had trouble before with them. But the last 2 times I used them was when trouble started.(bad batch) I switched to duracell and the caller is working good. Had no trouble with the sound or crackle. The remote is still taking about 10 seconds to shut off though. Even in the warmth of the house.

You must press and Hold the send/power button to shut the remote off because the same button it used to "send" when you select sounds. It is normal for it to take a few seconds to shut off.
