I've have an old straight bolt K31 Swiss karabiner. I bought this rifle about 7 yrs ago when I was collecting various military bolt actions. About five years ago I found some rnds for it and bought them up. I think I have about 20 left and 40pcs of brass from the original 80. The rifle is very accurate for what it is and i like the straight bolt its fun to shoot... My question is... Does anyone have load data for this or know how I could get a hold of some loading components? I havn't found any data on this cartrige anywhere and cannot find ammo for it the past few years. I would like load some partitions if posible and give it to my younger brother to use for deer. I ordered a scope mount but it won't help without having lead to spit... The last time I shot it (about 2yrs ago) I could hit a paper plate at 200yds with open sights. I'm gessing the military cartriges on run about 2500fs if that. And looks like a 180-200grn pill. Any experience would help on this. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Grafs carries Prvi ammo, price is right and it's reloadable.

Load data is readily available on the net, Hodgdon, Hornady and Lee manuals all have data for the 7.5x55 Scmidt-Rubin (7.5 Swiss), Hornady,Lee, RCBS and Redding all make dies for it.

I also have one of these rifles, they are interesting and fun to shoot aren't they. I got a bunch of ammo from the sportsmans guide, was some match ammo, and price was good and the stuff shoots real well. it is a real well made rifle. have not reloaded for it yet, believe all my brass is the berdan primer. can't remember what I paid for that ammo, but I bought a bunch so it must have been cheap.

They are certainly the most accurate milsurp that I have ever shot. I'm sure there are some freak Mausers and Mosins out there, but I've yet to see a Swiss rifle that wouldn't shoot.

I had good luck with IMR 4064 and just about any 150+ .308 bullet.

I've used both of mine coyote hunting. I'll have to look up some of my recipies. By far they are a couple of my most accurate rifles...

Keep digging around... There are organized groups here in the US that hold regular matches just for the Swiss Rifles. I've got a friend that participates, so if you can't find the info send me a PM and I'll get him to give me the info...

K31 is an amazing rifle. After I shot my first K31 at the range, I bought four more the following week. All five have bores that look like brand new even though their wood furniture got beaver tail chew on the buttstock.

Privi ammo in this caliber is excellent....especially where I only paid $9 per box. It is brass case with boxer prime.

I have two and they are great.

I shoot them in local "Clunker matches", where only Pre-Korea field grade military rifles with open sights are allowed - lotsa '03 Springfirlds, P17s and P-14s, 98 Mausers, etc.

The K-31s always place will and are well liked.

Both of mine had immaculate metal, and the stocks needed re-finishing.
