Over the years, I have had good success in the WIHA properties.
Especially since they started opening some of them up on Sept 1st.
That allows a person to (maybe) get out there to call before someone else does.
Just like with the non-WIHA properties I hunt, I've always concentrated on tracts that.......
...have a decent (160 acres+) area of pastures to draw from
...border a decent creek or river
...aren't likely to get over-run with dove or pheasant hunters
I used to spend multi-dollars in fuel driving around, trying to determine good spots.
Thankfully, Google Earth has made that aspect almost nonexistent now.
Of course, once you choose your possible locations, you still need to do some "on foot" scouting, to determine if there truly are critters in the area to hear your calls.
What counties are you looking into?
