Keep gun from freezing up?

I was just wondering what you guys do to keep your guns from freezing up. I went out last weekend with a buddy and both of our guns froze up and he missed a great looking coyote. I am thinking about just spraying it with powder blast to dry it out so there is no oil in it. What do you guys think? Oh and it was in the single digits to below zero.

Dissemble the bolt and clean all the gook and oil out of it. Trigger needs cleaned also and most spray carb cleaners or brake cleaners will do that. Those are the two things that usually freeze up on a bolt gun. If you need to lube a little powdered graphite or some of the high tech non-freezing lubes are the ticket.

If your shooting the AR Platforms I can't help you, but there's lots of folks here that can.

Mix a little powdered graphite with some denatured alcohol and apply it to the parts after removing all the old oil/lube... The alcohol will evaporate, leaving the graphite in place on the parts.

I get my graphite at the auto parts store in the extra fine grade. Works great..

Some of the lock deicers use graphite with a liquid carrier, like the denatured alchohol mentioned above. That will work great on trigger groups, bolt guns, AR's, pistols.
