Kel-tec PMR-30 yay or nay

I have one. Love it! Like with almost ALL 22 magnums, try a lot of different ammo, find the one it shoots best and keep some on hand.

Enjoy!

Early ones had some issues it is reported. Issues resolved in later models. I have one and it has been fine. No problems of any kind so far.
Have had it about three years I think.

I bought mine years ago, back when they cost more due to very limited supply, but they're a really fun gun and mine is very accurate.

I call mine a PMR-27 because if I only load the mags with 27 rnds it will run flawlessly every time with the 30gr Vmax ammo.

They aren't the prettiest gun out there but they're light weight, they have a good trigger, it shoots well, and with a couple extra mags they provide a lot of shooting. You can really burn thru the ammo with these things if you shoot them much.

My only complaint, and it's the same with all 22mag pistols, they are very loud so you'll always want to wear ear protection.

The only issue I've ever had with mine, and I know others have had the same problem, is the front site came loose on me. I caught it before it completely when flying off and if you get one of these things, before you ever shoot a single round through it, I would take the front site screws out and clean the threads, both on the screws and down in the hole, with acetone or break cleaner, put a dab of blue loctite on them then reassemble. I did that with mine and they're never moved since.

My buddy has a first run version, has only shot a couple boxes through it. I helped with one box, seemed like every 4-5 shots it would jam somehow(live round or stove pipe an empty). I was mad he hadn't asked for 2, until we were shooting.

I don't have one of the early models so I can't speak to their issues, but I know with the one I have and any that I've been around, the biggest issue has been when trying to load the mags all the way with 30rnds. That's why I call mine a PMR-27 because if I keep the mags loaded to no more than 27 rnds, they run flawless every time.

Both my mags load up 30 without too much trouble. Had a few FTF with winchester super x, but with CCI’s it runs great. Decently accurate at 25yds.

I have been carrying one in a chest holster while coyote hunting for years. They are lightweight and reliable. I totally agree with B23 as I never load the max, but 27-28 and no issues. I run the 30 g, Hornady V Max.

Im assuming the hornadys function 100%. Hows the accuracy?

Never have had any problems with the ammo, but I never load 30. Zero complaints on accuracy. I really like the weight as I carry it all day when hunting coyotes.

About all I've shot in my PMR is CCI and some Hornady label, 30gr Vmax ammo. I'm nearly certain, both, are manufactured by CCI and it runs through mine with no problems. I've always been pretty impressed with how accurate my PMR is.

Let us know how the Fastfire 2 works for you. I've read some have problems running red dot sights on PMR30's. I don't exactly recall what the problem was but I think it had something to do with the added weight slowing down the slide and they don't want to reliably cycle. Hopefully you don't have any issues with yours.
