Build yourself some calls, and find out.

For one thing, the Swift isn't that. It's a Swift case inside a nice wood call. I work on guitars and I know a thing or two about resonant wood. The first time I blew on one of Kerry's calls, I heard some resonance that I didn't hear from my plastic calls. It's a nice piece of wood (cocobolo) and it rings very musically. Other call makers can do this, too, and I sure have enough of their calls (just like I have more than few guitars). On a guitar, anyone can order parts from a wood supply house and slap 'em together. Sometimes it produces a nice instrument, sometimes not. It's the guys that know how to tap a soundboard, scrape a little here, thin a little there, how thick of a brace to put on, how much clamping pressure to use, etc- those are the guys who consistently produce good sounding instruments. I personally have watched Kerry tweak the same little metal insert that I have, listen to it, tweak it again, and insert it.

He also happens to be a friendly, personable sort of guy who addressed my kids like they were real live humans with something to offer to the world. I remember that when I blow on his calls. When I pull the pretty green call out, my little boy says "That's Mr. Carver's call! We met him at the coyote hunt!" A large part of coyote hunting with my kids is building memories and Kerry helps us do that. The guy in China might be a good guy, too, but my kids and I haven't met him yet so I dunno.

And finally, they're really not any more expensive than a plastic call, so why not?

Ask my 12 year old son about Kerry's calls. He called in and we killed a coyote the very first time he ever tried to blow a call and it was the open reed rubber rabbit to boot.In fact it was when we were testing the call on its first outing. I would be willing to bet you didnt call a coyote on your very first try.

Guys I don't think we can say enough about Kerry and his ability to build Super Nice Coyote Hand Calls. Not only is Kerry a Great Call Builder, he is also a excellent and very informed Coyote Hunter. Kerry's love for Coyote Hunting has driven him to build the best Hand Calls possible. As has been said, he is constantly working on improvements of his Calls, and will take time out of his busy schedule to help you solve a problem with Calls that you might be working on. He has helped me on several occasions to which I am very gratefull. I use his Tone Boards in my Calls as well as those of other Call Makers, and one that I am trying to perfect. I will use Kerry's Boards as long as he contnues to make them. Kerry is one of the best assets Coyote Hunting has going for it today. We should all thank him for what he has and is doing for us as well as well as for our Sport.

For those that think Call Making is just turning a piece of wood and sticking a Tone Board in, you are very mis-informed. Try making a Call. Then you will understand about Hand Tuneing a Call, and matching different woods with different Tone Boards to produce the best sound possible from that Call.

Sorry I rambled on for so long, but I feel that we can't and don't give credit and thanks enough to people like Kerry, Tony, Rudy, Brad and many others that really put forth an extra effort to improve our Sport. They do this each and every day, not for their benefit, but for the benfit of all the Hunters and the Sport. They live, eat and sleep Coyote Hunting.

Thanks Guys

Jeepy,

My post title stated that they are the "best calls I have ever blown" ... then I go on to talk about how I aquired these calls from a man I have never met, who built these calls for me because I hunted with one of his friends.

I'm wondering why you would post something like what you said??

In your opinion do you truly think that all calls are created equal???

I would never claim to be a veteran caller but I can tell you this from my limited experience... some calls are hard to blow and dont sound worth a [beeep]... Kerry's calls are exceptional in both ease and sound.

When I read your post I was brought back to my younger years when my mom would say "if you can't say anything nice, dont say anything at all"

If you really are that curious, then buy one of Kerry's calls and find out for yourself!!

Now a few of my thoughts on your on your assumptions (JEEPSTER) Truthfully you don't have a clue!!
I'm not just talking my calls here.. The calls you see on Predator masters in the custom call section of the forum are all hand built with pride by coyote hunters for coyote hunters, also they are made in America!! The calls you buy here are made buy guys that have a passion for what they do, We all take pride in our work.. I kind of take offense to your comment (when it's just a mass produced closed reed shoved into some wood or a plastic tone board ???????) Nothing could be farther from the truth.. Some of these calls take days even weeks to build.. We have some of the finest call builders in the world "IMO" here on Predator Masters and I really take pride being a very small part of that group..
On the sounds.. The custom calls you see in the custom call forum are all hand tuned by each individual call maker. Yes believe it or not, every reed you buy has to be hand tuned not just shoved into the wood!! Countless hours are spent developing new sounds every year and making calls as user friendly as possible, something you just don't get in China.. Pick up the phone call one of our call makers, all their contact info is listed in the custom call forum.. Tell them what you want and how you want it tuned and presto you have a custom built call tuned to your liking, not just a reed shoved into a chunk of wood.. I could go on for pages but ill leave it at that.. Kerry

Kerry you are one heck of a guy..I was trying and trying to handcall in some coyotes with a mass produced call I got at Sportsmans warehouse with no luck. I ordered one of your calls and presto like magic I was able to call in coyotes, you even threw inan extra call at no expense....On a side note I do have to replace the call..something ran it over after i dropped it..oops!!!!

The best part of the custom call maker is the fact most any of them will take time out to discuss hunting with you. not to just sell a product. When I first started calling there was a handfull of guys on here that gave me a call and helped me out tremendously...all custom call makers. YOu all do an awesome job...Thanks.

Somebody call Shanghai and ask Wun Hung Lo if his calls have the same warranty.

Hey Kerry, what if one of my hunting buddy's liked one of your calls that WAS in my collection, and it came up missing? Is that covered under warranty???
lol.gif

Kerrys calls are as good as they come!Jeepyjer you should do some research on building custom calls,it has nothing to do with MASS produced!I truly believe that every call builder on here builds the very best call they can and wouldnt ship it if they wouldnt put it on their personal lanyard.
