I visited my mother today and she handed me over a knife she found lying outside her place in the grass, its a solid brass hilted knife,Kershaw with model 1050 on the blade,it has finger grooves and is in mint condition.

Any idea of what its worth and is it any good? It has a thick blade and a very strong lock up, its a folder.

I can feel its quality for sure. The weight alone is enough said.

Whats your feelings on this knife??????? Do they still make these???

Very nice find /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif.That kershaw knife is around $150,give or take a little,if on sale. It's supposed to have a good edge and the pictures I saw,it looks real nice.I have found two knives before like that(but not as nice as yours) and it makes you feel pretty lucky,eh.Take care, daveyboy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Well I was going to ask or drop a line to the police, but then again thats a waste of time here, so I rather just keep the thing, it is in mint condition and keeps you thinking about how it landed up in the grass /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif but I just looked at Kershaws site, its valued at $225-00 so not bad at all.

I will look in the local newspaper next week, if anybody lost a knife, if not I will store it away /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Yes, thats a Kershaw folding field knife. I have one, actually, my second as the first was taken from my bathroom years ago (in Oregon) by one of the small neighbor kids. I don't think they moved to Africa!

Still have the extra shieth as they didn't take that. Very nice knife. I am looking at getting the 1030, same knife but does not fold.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Does make you wonder about the story behind that knife, doesn't it? And, as you say AfricaPredator, it would do no good to go to the police in South Africa about it. From what I hear, they are about as corrupt as the criminals they are supposed to chase.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Well lets just say that if I gave it to some official it would just get into the hands of a very good officer who would take real good care of it and make sure nobody would steal it, if you get my meaning /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

AfricaPredator:
I have a Kershaw 1060 folding model I bought at a flea market. It is hands down the toughest, sharpest knife I own. I field dressed a deer with it in December of last year, and it was still as sharp after I got done as when I started! I am embarrassed to say that the sheath I bought for it cost more than I paid for the knife.

I understand that this was one of the last knives that Kershaw made in the USA. Don't know if they are outsourcing to China, maybe if someone knows, they can chime in.

I am not disappointed in mine!
Tim

The 1050 is a very tight lock up, makes no movement when open up or down, left and right, totally tight and strong. BUT very heavy. This is a very strong knife - to nice to give away! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
