Kershaw knives

I have a kershaw SpeedSafe. It's my EDC with about 3 years on it, zero issues. I like the blade design and material. It is easy to sharpen, though it rarely needs it. Keep with any of the USA kershaw knives and you'll be fine.

I just thought of one thing. The little lock bar 'safety' is rather fragile. Mine has broken 2x. But the knife never opens unless I tell it to and it isn't a real issue for me.

I have several Kershaw knives, the are a quality blade for the money. They all come with a lifetime warranty even on the blade. They will sharpen it for you for free all you have to do is mail it to them and they will sharpen it and mail it back to you for free. I don't know of any other knife manufacturer that does that.

Do you really want to have to mail your knife to someone to get sharpened? An offer like that is kinda like if Ford offered to wash my truck for free if I mailed it to them. No thanks, it's really easier for me to do it myself.

I have a couple Kershaw's. I started with a "Blade Trader" to replace a folding FDT years ago. Has been a good knife and good dressing tool. The saw went dull, sent it to Kershaw, they sent me a new one. Broke the tip off of one of the blades using it as a screwdriver, Kershaw sent me a new one (of course, did take a little time in transit on both attempts).

More recently I picked up a Kershaw folding "Kuro". It's a "tanto point", semi-serrated blade. Wasn't very sharp from the factory (about average for a factory pocket knife), didn't take much stroping to put a real edge on it. Takes an edge easy, loses an edge easy, but not as bad as some I've had. It's also a $30 knife. The tanto point is a pain in the @ss, but some guys favor it, as I hear it is fantastic for stabbing zombies, very low drag in zombie flesh. I'm really happy with the knife all the same, but the tip is very fine, and the tanto point is a pain, not sure how long this one is going to last me.

Just too bad that Schrade went under, now THAT was a knife. Fantastic blades, great durability, a little difficult to put an edge on one, but they held an edge forever. I never have sharpened through the hardening of a Schrade blade, and Lord knows I've tried on a few blades!

I have a Blackout that I have owned for years. Excellent knife.

I recently purchased an orange g-10 Field Knife that I really like. Sheath is nice also. Under $40 and made in USA. Hard to go wrong. I think I will add some black liners to it to thicken up the grip a tad.

I have found Kershaw to be a great company to deal with and customer service is top notch. Very friendly and helpful people.....

I have had and lost several Kershaw knives over the years. IMO, they are an extremely good value for what they cost. I plan on purchasing several more blades from them soon.

In response to the question why would someone send off a knife to be sharpened? Maybe some people aren't comfortable trying to sharpen a knife themselves. So why not take advantage of that service provided by the knifemaker?

Benchmade offers the same service on their knives as well. You can send a blade in to be sharpened and they will tune and clean it as well.

Many knife manufactures do that.

I love my kershaw knifes. Its about all I will buy anymore.I have 2 of the cheapies that I use for everyday carry and have a sharpener in my desk and also in my truck becuase they don't hold an edge very long, but I do have a few higher quality kershaws that seem like you could cut through rock and still have a edge.As far as a kershaw breaking the tip while gutting a deer I would have o call BS.either your friend was doing something else and using the knife incorrectly or maybe he got one bad knife.I really cant see 2 doing the same thing.

Great knives..

I found the new Work sharp belt sander will put an edge on all of the knives in minutes that is really just an amazingly sharp edge, just like the factory.

I just recently bought another kershaw. I had the blackout for about 4 years and just lost it. While shopping for another one I see that the blackout has almost doubled in price from what I paid. So, I bought the slimmer Leek. It does have a surgical tip knife that probably won't last long. But other than that, I like it.
