Kimber Sonora

Looking to upgrade to a little larger caliber. Has anyone had experience with the Kimber rifle brand. I own a couple of 1911's made by them, but not a rifle. I am looking at the Sonora model in a 25-06. Here is the spec page on it....

I've been real happy with my 8400 in .300 WSM. It' my only Kimber though, so hardly a true test. I've read good and bad...

I only own one Kimber New York,a model 84M in 243.It took a little tinkering to get it to shoot well, but now it's a light, handy and accurate rifle.

The Sonora looks to be quite heavy and I wouldn't look forward to lugging around a 10 1/2 lb. rifle.

Good luck with your choice.

Thanks, I missed looking at the classic select. I am not too keen on the synthetic or composite stocks, I guess you could say I am of the old school, nothing quite like a piece of fine wood on a gun. I do not have to carry it very far. I just load it in my UTV and take off on the ranch to my stands....

Thanks again...

Kimbers are awesome, and the trigger is to die for.

Have had my Varmint .22-250rem. for a few years now, I shoot it sparingly because it is by far the nicest gun I own.

You can't go wrong with a Kimber.

that sonora has a laminated stock....

kimber cites "match grade chambers"......does this mean "no turn" necks or "tight neck" chambers?.....or is marketing being loosey goosey?

That would mean no turn necks.
"Match chambers" generally means SAAMI minimum dimensions in the body and maybe in the neck but still not requiring turning.

I own two Kimbers chambered in .204 and .308 and LOVE them! They shoot fantastic groups and look nice too!

I love my Kimber Montana in 300 WSM. It is a tack driver. Most of all the negative reviews Re: Kimber are from people who have never shot them.

They all start like this, "I know this guy ..."
