Kimber Varmint and or Pro Varmint - feedback

So I had to send my Remington back because the scope mounts holes were too far off to mount bases. I have finally had it and moving on from Remington (and unfortunatly 220 swift).

My question is that I am really liking the Kimber 84 varmint rifles in 22-250. I was wondering what some owners like and don't like about them before I drop a grand on one.

I am not interested in Savage, Tikka or anything other than Kimber feedback (not trying to be an a$$ but want to keep on topic).

Nice rifles. A gunsmith friend of mine bought one in 22-250 and the chamber was out of round. You couldn't chamber a fire round unless it was chambered the same way it came out. Sent it back to Kimber and they repaired the chamber but mess up the flutes in the process. He had to have another smith repair the flutes because he didn't do that type of work. Kimber was a bit slow on helping him and a few words were exchanged before it was repaired. Still, nice rifles.
 
I have got a Kimber Long Master Classic in 223 Remington. And it is a dandy. Great looking, and shooting rifle. I just wish they had one in left hand configuration. Buy one, you will not be sorry. I looked at Whittaker's the other day. They had a few in stock at the old price. Look them up on the net. Tom.

Got two Kimber rifles. I think you will find them to be a bargain considering all you get. Beautiful stocks, great triggers, slick actions, and stunning out-of-the-box accuracy for a fair price considering what it would take to customize another factory rifle to these specs. Plus, its worth it to me to KNOW that I new rifle is going to shoot tiny groups instead of just hoping it will.

Well I've been looking at them too and I have to say that longmaster 84 with the fluted barrel and the gray laminated stock looks just sick. I love that gun but I cant buy it because I just bought a Weatherby Super Varmint Master 22-250, and that's what the Kimber is. It was my second choice.
 
I've own a Pro Varmint in a 22-250.I bought it new.It will shoot a 40gr and a 55gr,and everything in between in the same hole.I mean in the same hole,no bs!I've only seen one other rifle do that ,and it was a Kimber also in a .204.I've also owned a Longmaster in a 22-250.It shot very well too,but threw different bullets on different places on the target like most rifles.Kimbers are nice rifles,I have yet not to see one shoot.The Pro Varmint is a little too short for my arms.But like I said,I ain't seen a bad one yet.
 
So you guys twisted my Arm and i picked on eup today. I also got a sweet bushnell elite 4200 fpr 300. does anyone use talley or warne mounts and rings?

If so what height? Cabelas didn't hacve any rings for it.
 
Thanks for the reply. I am hoping that their free float and pillar bedding holds up. I gave the gun the dollar bill slide test before I bought it and it seems to be free floated very nicely. I really like the gun and like the classic look of it with the top notch modern technology in the mechanics.

I am big into the 1911 style guns and I know Kimber took a beating about 4-5 years ago on the quality (or lack of) and have made some serious improvements.

They stopped making the shotguns to focus on high quality rifles and 1911.

I have a set of Talley rings/bases coming next week so I;ll see what she does. In the mean time I am loading up some 52 bergers for it to snack on.
 
Ive got the Pro-Varmint in 22-250 it shoots under .5 with handloads(never tried any factory loads). It does have one issue though sometimes when I extract the hulls from the chamber they land right back in the magazine and it happens alot. Had it happen on a coyote once and I went back to packing my AR. Other than that its an awesome rifle and one of the most accurate ive owned.
