I saw that Cheeper Than Dirt is selling Lake City 5.56 ammo 30 rounds for $10.49 there is 3 10 round stripper clips in a box. I wanted a cheep but clean ammo to do some plinking from my AR 5.56(.223) have any of you used this ammo? I was thinking about getting a .223 Beta Mag loader to ease the loading of the stripper clips. I want to brush up on my 300 yd+ shooting so I thought this may be a cheep route. I am also looking at buying a spinner target as well any sugestions? Thanks

I use lake city brass for reloading but do not know any thing about their loaded ammo, however if it is FMJ then you'll most likely poke holes in your spinner targets. FYI, alot of people don't read the fine print on steel targets.

Thanks. The spinner that I am looking at is also in the CTD catalog the Double Blast Spinner or the Brew Self Healing Reactive Target it says "not suitable for use with hollow point ammo"

Every gun is different but the most accurate ammo I have shot that is fairly cheap is Fiocchi 55gr FMJ $20 for 50 rds around here. At that price [beeep] might as well try it out.

You really want to read about what ammo the spinner target was made for use with.... Most are developed for .22lr and some for .38spl and 9mm...

The Lake City Military FMJ will crater some of the heavier steel plate... I have some, in reserve, that is steel core and it will pretty much go through a car body..as well as poke holes in steel targets..

One of the spinner targets I mentioned is self healing and good for .22-50 cal but not recomended for hollow points.

Lake City makes a lot of Mil ammo. When I qualify with the M-16 it's a lot dirtier after shooting a couple hundred rounds than my AR-15 gets shooting Varget or Tac.
