LaRue SPR mount?

I am waiting on two RRA AR's and am ready to order a scope mount. I am considering the LaRue SPR and the ADM Recon one piece mounts. The LaRue seems to be very popular and the ADM is getting good reviews as well. Price is similar and I maybe like the looks of the LaRue a little better.
My concern with the LaRue is that the levers/cams only contact the upper in one small spot each as opposed to the ADM which appears to have a full length bar to contact the upper when tightened. I am a bit of a neat freak and I'm worried the LaRue might gouge the upper when tightened. Anybody notice any damage from the LaRue's?

As far as I can tell there isn’t a problem with the LaRue damaging the upper on my AR.

However in all honesty that isn’t really a concern of mine. My main reason for selecting this mount was durability, the repeatability of scope zero when taking it off and putting it back on and height over the bore. On all those counts the LaRue is at the top of the heap in my opinion.

I have a LaRue SPR mount with a V24 Weaver scope in place on the Auction Rifle that I bid on (and won). The DTec rifle with this optic and mount is very accurate and the scope returns to zero when remounted. The mount puts the scope at the right height and with the right eye relief so I have no troubles when shooting with a proper "cheek-weld".

My vote is for the LaRue SPR. By the way, I detect no marring of the rail on my upper.

Cheers,

Karl

go with the larue, i thought about others but im glad i went larue. it will hold zero after taking it off the rifle, and its dead solid, no movement at all. also doesnt leave ugly marks on your scope if you happen to change scopes.

You won't damage your rail mount even if you take it off often. I keep a little grease on the mating surfaces to make it easier to remove and replace. Take a little time to adjust the levers properly and it won't give you any problems. I like the little locks on the levers and would have liked them on both levers instead of one.

The Recon mount looks like a good mount as well, and it might be a little lighter. The price is similar but I would like to see one up close to make up my mind. The Larue has a solid reputation to back it up that is well deserved. I have the LT-137 side mount option on my Larue SPR 1.5 mount for the Burris, JP, or Doctor Mini Red-Dot sight.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like my concerns about gouging are unjustified. Pretty much everyone seems to love them also.
Thanks again.

No question here: buy the LaRue. Buy once, regret once. You will have the best mount you can buy and if you ever want to sell it, it will move VERY quickly.
