The Mandalay Bay security guard shot by Stephen Paddock in the moments leading up to the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history was set to break his silence Thursday night with five television interviews, including one on Fox News, Campos' union president said.

Except when the cameras were about to roll, and media gathered in the building to talk to him, Campos reportedly bolted, and, as of early Friday morning, it wasn't immediately clear where he was.

“We were in a room and we came out and he was gone,” Campos' union president told reporters, according to ABC News’ Stephanie Wash.

Campos is represented by the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America, which did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News earlier this week.

Little is known about Campos, with few pictures to emerge of the security guard and no apparent online footprint surfacing to provide details about one of the central figures in the mass shooting.

SPFPA President David L. Hickey told reporters new information about the timeline of the attack -- for which Las Vegas Police and MGM Resorts have given conflicting accounts – doesn’t dispute Campos is still a hero for saving a maintenance worker and possibly stopping additional shots, Wash reported.

MGM Resorts issued a statement Thursday to “correct some of the misinformation that has been reported."

“We know that shots were being fired at the festival lot at the same time as, or within 40 seconds after, the time Jesus Campos first reported that shots were fired over the radio, the statement said. “Metro officers were together with armed Mandalay Bay security officers in the building when Campos first reported that shots were fired over the radio. These Metro officers and armed Mandalay Bay security officers immediately responded to the 32nd floor.”

In the most recent police timeline, provided Monday, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said Paddock fired about 200 bullets from his room at the resort starting at 9:59 p.m. on Oct. 1 -- the volley in which Campos was hit -- and then began opening fire on the music festival crowd six minutes later.

Police had earlier said the opposite – that Campos was struck after Paddock started firing out the window.

Nearly two weeks into the investigation, authorities have yet to disclose a motive for Paddock’s attack, which left 58 dead.

But sometimes I wonder if they are 100 percent truthful.

It most definitely was . He most likely would have set the grounds for his immediate termination of employment . ( No Doubt ) he signed restrictive agreements for securing his employment as do most everybody now days do .
You can be terminated just for your social media comments and him commenting public openly to media would be the Axe for him . You don't get a 2nd chance with your employer when flapping your PieHole to Media in something as high a profile as this and damages this big that are hanging over there heads .

also ' internet social media rumor mill ' talk about him not being a 'current' or working Security Guard when shot, or with expired state certifications armed/unarmed . might even be as 'simple as' the result of his employers fault or laziness , as a lot of the Casino in-house security employees Cert. Licenses are held there in-house, with also there employer paying for there annual employees re-cert. and renewal fees .

Makes me wonder if the local LEO did fingerprinting on all the guns and or did they check for residue on the security guy and the other employee.. Just because the guy has a wound don't make him a hero. just saying!! once again to many unanswered questions and made up answers. They've so much as said that no one saw the shooter during the course of the act(unless I missed something)so is he really the shooter or were the presence of his firearms the only dead give away, no questions asked.. If I'm wrong please enlighten me!!
 
A thought, Dems and Rinos get together and pass some.stupid gun laws. Trump sees the stupidity and vetoes it. Now the dems and rinos are even more united to make him the first lame duck President with his own party in control of both houses. He passes it and we are pissed off. He vetoes it and they are even more pissed off. Lose lose situation for him. And makes him a target for the rest of his term.

Money.
Needed something to justify metal detectors and scanners. Start with the casinos and go forward to include all gov buildings then schools then malls and so on. Worth Billions.

Second benefit. Gun control has been hard to pass but if all this scanning and detecting equipment was in place that would amount to gun control as a person couldn't go anywhere armed.
Add cameras to all the new equipment with face recognition.

Here is my theory, could be right, could be wrong.

Some clandestine, "non-existent" unit of the FBI or other government agency sets out to further their political agenda. They have an undercover guy or two befriend some protester at an anti-Trump rally. They coach him, help him, they tell him what to buy, where to keep it, how to use it etc... The guy is a doofus and is played by the undercover operatives. The shooter believes he is doing the right thing to advance a good cause, and the undercover guys are there to help him. He sets up and starts shooting at the direction of his "friends". He realizes after he starts shooting that there is no way out and shoots himself, or they shoot him and leave, leaving only themselves as witnesses.
They say the door was screwed shut from the inside, who knows if that is true. Who knows if ANYTHING we have been told is true.

Is it a coincidence that all the things the left wants to ban were in the room in large numbers? It's a perfect shopping list for the anti-gun crowd, high capacity magazines, bump stocks, AR-15's, tannerite, etc...
It all seems just a little too well put together to me, too well put together by a non gun guy.

And what is with all these idiots talking about his dope on a sheet in the room? Just another tidbit for the left and the media. Does anyone who has ever shot anything need dope when shooting offhand at several hundred yards? Does accuracy make any difference at all? No, and I guarantee that the muzzle rise shooting nearly full auto will take the point of impact from near to far on its own. It just sure seems to be a nice spoon fed story to the media, too bad they can't all keep their lies straight.

someone who's owned guns for 20+ years could hardly be called "a non gun guy"


however... the combination of bump stocks, ar15's, that stack of hi-cap mags, and all the tannerite combined do sure look [beeep] suspicious as one helluva setup....

doesnt help the LV sheriff doing the press conferences looks like he's lost 15 lbs and is all but sweating bullets and twitching during the press events now, after changing the story what 3 or 4 times now at least? and then claiming "dont believe the conspiracy hype".

Dude if you dont want conspiracy folks - be accurate and open, not dismissive, appearing to hide stuff, and modifying the story every 72 hours and twitching like a meth head on a 4 day binge when you're on the news.
