From the little I have read they work great unless its real cold then they have battery trouble. I might try one this year also. I don't think I'll mount it on my scope but try it hand held for a few times.

Been thinking of picking one up myself, probably going to go with the ND-3 as it seems to be adequate for it's intended purpose. When I get mine, I will do a review for the guys here.

It doesnt have to be real cold for it not to work...A buddy of mine said if it got down to 50 degrees it starts to dim out....I called the company myself and they said that they were working on that problem and that alot of guys were taping hand warmers to them...I think Ill pass and just stick with the Lightforce....

I have had two ND3's. The first one quit entirely, the second won't work in cool, much less cold, weather. It is a gimmick. All it is is a green laser with a lens in front of it. BSA customer service also leaves much to be desired. Save your money.

I purchased the ND3 last fall and posted a lot about the cold weather problems. I took the scope mount off my rifle as it is a piece of junk. I now have it mounted on my R15 on the side via a picatinny rail and a quick release gizmo. I have a Fenix TK12 on the other side mounted. I use no other spotlights at night, just the ND3 and my Fenix. On mounting it on the side of my R15, I found to get the light at the right angle, I put a very small washer on the side opposite the end of the light to angle it just a little. Ten times better than the one that comes with it. The middle of the light (the laser field) is fading and shadowing. I have contacted the company but so far have not received any reply. Just mounting it on my scope does not work for me. I hold it in my left hand and scan while looking through my binoculars. Works very good. If I see something coming in, I can quickly mount it on my rifle, and use the laser until it gets closer then switch to my fenix. Holding my the forend in my left hand the laser is controled via a pressure switch with my finger tips, then my fenix light is control by my left thumb. I can quickly switch back and forth. With all the problems this thing has, I am glad I purchased it because I mainly hunt at night and I don't have to worry about big spot lights, etc. The cold weather problems can be minimized by wraping it with an ace bandage and keep holding it in your hand for warmth.

I bought the ND5 and have used it once with no problems. The reason I purchased this one is we cannot have a lazer or light enhanceing device mounted on our rifle at night. The night that I used it, it worked great and acts as a flashlight. I see no problems with it but have not used it when its cold.
