For those using a laser pointer to help in recovery; what laser are you using?

I need to get one but don’t have any experience with long range laser’s to know which are good and which are junk.

When I had a radius lrf unit I used that laser a few times.

I bought some cheap ones off Amazon, look more like for a pistol, but haven't used them yet, they were cheap.

The one I have is called a Pinty green laser and currently runs about $26 bucks on Amazon. I've had mine since 2020 and it is still going strong.

I know a lot of people use laser pointer to find their call or a downed coyote. I well tell you even a better use for them and a reason to have one that most people have never thought about. We have on many occasions called in unwanted animals or attracted many animals we don't want to shoot that come up and check the call when its blaring. We have called up domestic dogs, nosey cattle / horses/donkeys, and a lot of deer using fawn distress. The laser is great quick deterrent for getting them away from the call. I have never not seen it work especially with domestic dogs. They tuck their tail and run and you don't have to waste a good stand. Just keep in mid to do it quick because if a yote sees it they are gone too. We have had this happen to us quite frequently and works like a charm. I saved one of my older fox pro calls this way that was getting kicked across the pasture from a doe while playing fawn distress and have to get farm animals away from the call on a weekly basis. I have them on all our night hunting setups and charged them before putting them on the guns and haven't had to charge them since. We only use it to scare unwanted animals and not for marking a coyote or call with though. Just something to think about.

I’m using a sight mark laser I got off of Amazon. I’ve used it a couple of years and it works pretty good. Never had issues with it in the extreme cold as well.

I bought one off Amazon a couple years ago that I carried in my pack, but never tested it to see how it worked.

I velcroed it to my handguard, & the next time out, I couldn't see any projection. Thought maybe it needed charging.

Nope, worked fine in the house. So now I'm not sure if it can't handle the cold, or it's just a piss poor lazer, or both.....

So, when you attach your laser to your rifle to use as a spotter for your call or downed coyote, do you have another rifle to carry while you are away from your stand in case another critter shows up?
