I don't know about a pistol grip laser, but see lots of models that either fasten to the scope or one of the rails on an AR and their not to expensive.

Only grip laser's I've had experience with are pretty expensive, in the 250 to 350 buck range and are built into the grips for defensive handguns. I have a Crimson Trace on my Taurus Ultra-light 38.

YEA I HAVE A RUGER MARK II WITH CRIMSON TRACE GRIPS THAT I BOUGHT RITE AFTER THEY CAME OUT WITH THEM. DANG GRIPS COST MORE THAN THE PISTOL THEN.

With a laser only, you will have a very difficult time identifying your target in total darkness. The dot grows with distance so accuracy deminishes with distance past 100 yards. You need some auxilary lighting to identify your target. In bright daylight you can't see the beam outdoors much over 10 yards without a red lens in your shooting glasses.

That being said, its no trick at all to make head shots from the hip at 50 yards at night with an AR if you can see the outline of your target.

They are the ticket for close quarter work.

Crimson Trace has a vertical foregrip laser but it requires a rail on the handguard. They also have a laser for the A1/A2 upper, replaceable grip with the activation switch and the head mounts to the carry handle. With either of these systems the laser head seems to be mounted off of the bore at least a couple of inches.
