First coyote is worthy of...
What a great way to end the season! My son has been coming with me on weekends since he works a lot and every time he has, we've either seen or heard coyotes but he's never had a chance to lay the crosshairs on one. Well today was shaping up to be no different. On the drive at first light to our first stand he spies one standing in a field a few farms up from our first spot. I thought "perfect maybe it will give him an opportunity" well, as usual it didn't show
So we picked up and hit a few more spots with no success. We decided to hunt a spot we called one out last week that winded us because the wind was in a better direction today. As we set up and I said, "if one comes out it will come from that spot" my son says "I don't believe you"
Well 15 minutes in he says" I thought I just saw one in the bush" moving towards us. He wasn't sure so I switched up to pup in distress and sure enough it popped out right where I said it would. He was steady and focused and swung the gun over and the coyote was now standing at 90 yards looking right at us. He pulled the trigger and that familiar thwap sound bounced back at us. happy for him. What a great day for father and son to spend time bonding.
