After setup i started the 1st call about 10:15 PM last night. I did not use the call that much, only few times in 1.5 hour . The area is a high coyote traffic AG area . I worked scanning the area the whole time while set-up and standing on top of a Bed of a flat-bed 5th wheel trailer behind a coral with a few horses in it. .. with ZERO Moon.. it was real dark, and just spotted cloud ceiling.
It was just couple minutes past midnight and ( 2 ) dogs crossed threw fence into the far side of the pasture about 400 yard out and made their way toward the coral/barn area . I visually picked the largest most mature looking dog out of the 2, using the Rifle/NV clip-on, and a little magnification. and waited till he got inside the 150 yard line, and dropped him .
After I dropped him. I did a few scans to make sure no others were around, cleared my chamber, did another therm. scan for any stray that might be there . Then I hit, 'Domestic Pup Cries ' on the FP for about 15 seconds and turned Off.
About 10 minutes latter. This Dog comes into a side property Hazelnut orchard about 150 yrd. out, and starts BARKING repetitively Non-Stop, and i mean he was on a mission just Barking non-stop . I watched him a good minute just Barking. Then he just stepped into a sight-line that was clear shot and I dumped him between tree rows .
I packed-up and was back home before 02:00 AM .
