Last Stand of My Season

Even with the moon at 50%, I had a good hide for this stand and was able to kill this coyote before 8:30 even though it wasn't really fully dark. Range was 120 yds. and he was DRT. The wind was from my 2 o'clock and the call was at my 9 o'clock about 50 yds out. I was using intermittent pup sounds and had muted the call when this one came out. When I turned the call back on it turned to give me a good broadside shot.

It hasn't been the best of years for me. Some continuing health issues for my wife have limited my opportunities, but that's part of the "for better or for worse, in sickness as in health" vows. I've only managed 42 for the season which is about 25 short of my average season, but I'm thankful that I'm still able to hunt at 79 and my wife is improving all the time so life is good. I probably won't make another calling stand until September when the nights get longer and cooler. Thanks for watching and all the support and encouragement over the years. I've met some really nice people here. Anyway here is the video:

Beautiful as always;-)

Congrats……I am hoping this coming season is better in my world as well, gotta take what mother natures delivers.

Happy summer!

Glad your wife is doing better, Owen. Hope she continues to improve and you are able to get back out sooner rather than later.

Thanks again for the replies. You guys are the best! I'm wishing you the best this spring and summer. Maybe I'll pick up one or two more on my bait pile once the rye is harvested that has me surrounded right now.

Owen,
Congratulations on a classic season's end.
I've been trying for 3 years and have made a considerable savings on ammunition!!!
Married 56 years this year. Too many couples don't take to heart that a commitment. Lasts forever.
You are a good man to take care of your wife, that happily is feeling much better.

Now that should go down in the annals as a classic! You're too funny soup. :ROFLMAO:
Thanks for the good wishes on my wife. Other than Jesus, she is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Here’s to hoping for a better upcoming season, and continued health improvements for your wife. 42 coyotes is still a very respectable season in my opinion. Whatever the number was, there’s certainly more important things to tend to.

I’m kind of a youngster on this forum it seems. 57 years old and I’ve been with my wife since we were 15. She’s had her share of serious health issues and we got through all of them together. Like you said, it’s the vows that we made, and we’re committed to upholding them.
