Latest coyote and Pulsar warranty questions.

Was able to ambush a pair of coyotes last night but only connected on one. Here is the video from the Pulsar XP50

As you can see the coyote ran a fair distance until it stopped and died there. When I skinned it this morning the entry and exit were about halfway back and low on the body so marginal shot thankfully she was a big female with a deep chest or I would have missed her completely. However, after re watching the video multiple times it doesn't appear that it impacted where my point of aim was. I have had some misses the last two years, where I have questioned the scope but ended up blaming it on myself. I have checked and sometimes it does seem I have a POI shift but other times seems the scope is on but this is all with varying temperatures. 2 weeks ago the scope was dead on with consistent groups. I will recheck it tomorrow. So I guess my question is how do I go about confirming whether or not I am suffering from a POI shift? What sort of documentation do I need to provide to submit a claim? I purchased the scope from Night Goggles 2 years ago so if I really do have an issue I would like to take care of it before my warranty is up. Do I contact Pulsar or Night Goggles?

More than likely you're having the same problem MANY of us Trail owners have/had.

It will be due to one of two things... 1) POI shift due to temp changes or 2) the housing inside has cracked where the screws secure it thus allowing the housing to move causing POI shift issues. Either way, more than likely you will get a new unit.

My Trail XP50 suffered from BOTH causes at different times. My good hunting partner recently bought a new Trail XP50 and the first cold snap we had here in FL his shifted between 3" and 5" on two different checks.

You will need a copy your original invoice, go to this link https://www.pulsar-nv.com/glo/support/customer-service/warranty-service/226/

You should get a fairly fast and friendly reply. Expect to be offered a replacement unit which will come with a NEW WARRANTY PERIOD.

Expect to wait on a replacement. I was told @ 4 weeks at the start, but I've since moved on from Pulsar.

Thank you for the reply and instructions. I am still not sure if I am having an issue or not, took the rifle out today and straight out of the 60 degree house it was dead on. waited 25 minutes outside at 34 degrees and it was grouping with the first 3 shots. This was all at 100 yds. But I am still confused why it was so low and far back on the coyote in the video. I'm shooting a 6.5 grendel so I know they were well within range for holding center mass. This is not the first time I've had it either. But when I try to replicate it I can't. Looking for advice

Farmer, I would do the same thing you already have but leave it outside longer, then shoot it again after if warms up. I also leave mine on the entire time.

I'd guess placement on your coyote was low and right. IME colder temperature moves poi low and right. I just got my replacement replacement and it's doing the same [beeep] thing as the other two.

It's disgusting to me they keep selling these.

I wish you luck, please let us know how it goes.

I decided to use just ONE TARGET for zero checks and made a log to track performance.

That way, after three or four range sessions to check my zero and group, I had all the historical data right there on one target that provided the same POA reference.

Keep in mind, some of us have had zero shifts due to temp whereas others were due to internal breakage where the housing mounts... I suffered from both problems.

Frustrating and a big confidence killer... even guys with replacements as evident by the above post.

Best you can do is to start a log and track performance at the range on the same target vs. results in the field.

I just shipped my Trail XP50 back today. Hope I get a replacement within a few weeks or I'm going to another brand. I don't have time for these type of problems. I'm pretty disappointed with this performance.

Expect the same... Pulsar has told me straight up NOTHING has changed with the units. Replacement units are acting the same.

The silver lining, if any, is Sellmark has bent over backwards addressing complaints. Sellmark has been extremely honest, friendly, and has not tried to dodge the problem.

Like the saying goes... even a great company puts out a dud from time to time... given the amount of people posting problems on various social media sites and gun boards... perhaps just the opposite is true considering the Trail series. Some good ones exist but way too many people have issues for it to be a once in a while dud slipping through.

I'm also interested in just how much real use some of those "ok" units are actually seeing.

Extremely glad for those with no problems, I really hate giving up on the Trail it was a fantastic unit with lots of nice options.

But with the track record I've personally experienced along with a friend/hunting buddy having the same problem, I think it's border line negligence to use one (Trail) on a rifle not knowing IF or WHEN it's going to be off.

Just got this from a guy in the UK... there are problems there as well.

Hi happy new year, just to let you know I’ve had a full refund on that faulty pulsar scope, but the UK trading standards are investigating Pulsar products ( safety issues)

I'm asking him for details... otherwise it's just a claim.

I just got a shipping notice from Sellmark. Less than a week since I sent my unit in and a replacement is on the way. I hope it works better. At least I didn't have a long wait. Their customer service is good.

That's good news I really hope it works out for you. Their customer service is definitely good. A true debacle in my eyes. Can't say a negative thing about Sellmarck and on the flip side I don't have anything positive to say about Pulsar.

I shipped my trail back today. They are replacing it with a thermion which I am not happy about but if it will actually hold zero I'll deal with it. I sure will miss the LRF, really a sickening situation.

I thought hard about asking for the Thermion but I saw various posts about monitor flickering, video problems, and monitors just flat going white after firmware updates.

I agree, Sellmark has been great to deal with... they are caught in the middle of all this.

If you press for a refund, you just might get it. Then move on to another product?

Basically I wanted a scope back on my gun yesterday and felt this was my quickest way to accomplish it.

Well, the replacement they sent me for my Trail XP50 still had the same issue. Now they're sending me a Thermion XP50.
