A couple guys have been helping me through pm,s but thought I would ask here to keep from bugging them so much.I plan on getting some lead bullets for my 7-30 waters win 94. SHould I try to get them with gas ck or should I plan on installing them myself? What all do I need to know about lead bullets and gcs? Meaning is there a certain type base on the bullet I need to make sure I get?and will I need to size them and lube them? I have no equipment for sizing or lubing or installing gc. I do have my Rock CHucker press and dies and all the normal basic stuff.I would like to just order the bullets and not have to lube or put the gc on just loadem and shootem.
Thanks

order some bullets sized and lubed, and load them. if sized to .284 with a hard alloy and they will probably lead your barrel. try to find some sized to .286 or .287 even, with a softer alloy a .285 or .286 could obturate well enough to seal the bore without leading.
seems like the biggest mistake people make is bullets that are too hard, and sized too small.

my 44 revolver likes bullets sized to .432

I always shoot with Gas Checks. Just makes sense to me. I make my own bullets from wheel weights and attach the GC when I run them through the sizer/lube press. I have seen them sold with the GC on them. I have also bought ready make projectiles and applied GC's on them. Even on some that were not made for GC's. It's better if you get the ones that have the little stepdown/shoulder at the base. Or you can forget all of what I have said and just load to lower velocity and not use them.

I believe I would rather shoot with gc,s.The ones I have found are .285 and gas checked already would those lead there barrell you think? I would think .286 cause a higher pressure but not much.I plan on getting a mold with the step down(been looking at them) I do not have a furnace or anything just my reloading press.I plan on getting all of this unless I can just find what bullets I need for this rifle and stock up. I do shoot lead in my 44 mag,, 45 lc,, and 45-70 also. Would the bullet making supplies and tools be worth the expense. I do not shoot alot bu hate to have to look for bullets on the net cause none of my gun shops carry much.

.286" will not cause higher pressures.

Bullet casting can be a real hoot if you like that kind of stuff, but here, more than in reqular reloading, DON'T CHEAP OUT - get good stuff to start, or you will quit cuz your results will be poor.

I cast for the 45-70 and 45-120.

There is a great website for bullet casting crazies:

Read everything and ask questions - it is a lot of fun.
