Learn to make a coyote call

I have bought coyote calls from a few folks here in the past and love every one of them!
A few months back I bought a lathe and started making handmade pens. I would love to make a few calls for myself just to be able to say that "I" made it.
I have absolutely no interest in selling them or making them in bulk, I have been able to come across a few beautiful pieces of wood and would like to have some base info to start before I screw up some good wood.
I was fortunate to meet Brad over in middle Tennessee a years or so ago and got the interest, but every time I start looking for call parts I tend to get overwhelmed by all the options.
Since I don't plan to make them in large quantity I am trying to keep from spending a fortune on tools.....any help or guidance would be appreciated
******i think I would like to start with closed reed for coyote and squirrel calls*****

Dogcatcher and me did a DIY post quite some time back. He did a closed reed call. They weren't fancy calls they were without tools but it should give you an easy place to start. Click Here

Thanks Brad.......just what I was looking for!
Now I know what drill sizes and depths to start with.
I've been showing off and using the call I got from you......hope to call in one this weekend

Take pictures as you work on the call, the photos will help you in the future. As you progress, you will find little things that can make it better or easier for you. Also if you screw one up, and soon or later you will screw one up, it will be a reminder to not make that mistake the next time.

The main thing is have fun, and then the pleasure of a successful hunt with something you made yourself. There is a lot of self satisfaction when you use a call that you made yourself to fool the adversary.

Good luck.
