Leica 2000b or Sauer 2200mr???

Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to look through both of these rangefinders and test them side by side. I was thinking of buying the Sauer 2200mr since cabelas has them on sale but want to know if you think the Leica 2000b is worth the extra dough. I hear the Leica have better glass but don't by how much.

A couple of years ago, I would say Leica all day.

However, Sig has really worked the kinks out and makes an elite product.

In regards to your comparison, the Sig would be my choice.

Probably won't get hurt on the Sauer 2200, but the saying "you get what you pay for" is almost always true.
The Leica has better glass and better ranging capabilities.
The ballistics portion I have not used.
A statement I have heard is Leica under rates and Sig over rates.
Most people including me will never need the extreme distance abilities for any thing other than entertainment.

I have the 2000 and it's fantastic. The 2200 shouldn't disappoint. And it's only $349 now?! That's less than I paid for the 2000. It's a great range finder at a great price. Plus it has a lifetime warranty even on the electronics. Most places only warrant the electronic parts of products 1 year. The warranty just adds to the value your getting with that package.

Sorry, but the electronics are not covered for a lifetime. They are 5 years on that. The rest of the LRF is covered for life, but not the electronics.

"For components not included under the SIG SAUER® Infinite Guarantee™, this warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship in the electronic and Tritium components of illuminated riflescopes/sights, pistol sights, electronic sights, flashlights, lasers, binoculars, spotting scopes, and rangefinders. This warranty lasts for five years from the date of manufacture. If, during that five-year period, these products are found to have electronic or Tritium component defects in materials or workmanship, SIG SAUER will repair your product, at no charge to you. If we cannot repair your product, we will replace it with a product in perfect working order of equal or better physical condition."

Kevin is correct.

AFAIK, the Vortex is the only LRF on the market with a Lifetime Warranty. I realize they're not as good as either of ones mentioned, but the Ranger 1500 was "good 'nuff" for me. And with my clumsy proponency, I figured it was a sound investment.

I had a Leica 1200, traded it a couple years ago towards a 1600. I have since bought a Sig 2000, which had a power failure, Sig replaced it within a week with a 2200MR. I use the 2200 more than the 1600. The Leica is a little more clear, which is only to say I can pick up mirage a bit more crisply, but the Sig is plenty clear. The Sig tends to pick up a little faster, but I can usually manipulate the smaller beam of the leica to pick out a smaller target than the Sig past 1,000yrds, if I hold my tongue just right.

For me, those "advantages" of the Leica aren't enough to justify the cost. I was a Leica believer for a lot of years, but unless the 2000 is a lot better than the 1200 or the 1600, I'm a Sig 2200 guy now.

Yup. With my Sig KILO 2000 I can range on a horse at 1700 yards.

I aint never going to be shooting nothing that far, especially no horse, but the fact that the unit can range on something no more reflective than that just impresses me to no end.

I've never looked thru a 2000 but my 2200mr is pleanty clear enough!

It is, seemingly, better glass than before...but not Leica glass.

Thanks Pahntr, thats good to know. Mine seems to be finicky about eye position and picky about sun position. Haha, overcast days/mornings its fine.

This is typical of LRF as some of the suns rays match the laser pretty closely and confuse the input.

No, this issue has nothing to do with function of the laser. Im talking about when you are just glassing with the unit.
Maybe I need to call Sig.
