Leica Trinovid or Zeiss

I've wanted a high end set of binoculars ever since I was a kid and I've narrowed my choices down to these two. I drew a deer tag in Utah this season and want to take them along. I was at the store and compared the Leica Trinovid 10x42 with the Zeiss conquest HD 10x42 and was having a hard time deciding which was clearest? The money difference is not an issue with me but was just wondering which of the two you guys would buy.

Leica. I own the 8x42's. And I too waited 15 years before I was in the position I could afford them.

To properly test glass, you should afford yourself at least 6-8 hours. You simply cannot glance through glass at a store and make a decision.

You need to take them home, adjust them perfectly for your eyes, then let your eyes relax (at least 30 minutes, and continue to adjust until they are perfect), and only then begin a comparison. Using a grid at 100 feet will tell you which have the finer resolution.

Lastly, if you look on the serious birding forums, on a scale of 0-100, Zeiss, Leica and Zwarovski are all 99+. Most reviewers agree the differences are niggling and choose based on ergonomics but personally, I like the nth degree of resolution you'll find with Leica. The very edge of the view is as razor sharp and true to color as the center.

So have fun.
