I hate to break it to you, but flikr isn't much better than photobucket.

I'd pick them as one of the next ones to do this hostage type situation photobucket did. If it's free, sadly it can happen to any.

Imgur is the least likely of all to do something like that.

I just host them here. The quality isn't that good since I'm going directly from my phone and I'm too lazy to bring my good camera in the field with me. It works and it's free.
