Leupold 2.5X8 vs. the field

For a woods rifle, 5x should be plenty, IMO. I'll gladly take the much larger FOV of the 1.5-5 over the higher power of the 3-9 for woods rifles. JMO.....
 
Good choice with the 1.5-5 you will like it. It also is not true that you can turn higher power scopes down. Lets say 3x is the low end well how are you going to turn that to 1.5? 3x is still a pretty small FOV when you are in thick woods where you can only see 50 yards.

Since most hunting scopes don't get turned past 4x then why have a variable on a hunting gun if you don't use the high end? If you have a 1-4. You will find the entire range from 1-4x useful in the field. My old 3-12 stayed on 3 for about 2 solid years except a few range trips so it was pointless.

Did I mention that we want pictures?
