Leupold Rangefinder

Check out the Bushnell PinSeeker 1500. Cost is around $450, and though it's designed with the golfer in mind, it rocks for shooters. (Keeping in mind it is just a laser, afterall).

I too am in the market for a decent range finder. I was talking to a new hire, in the company I work for, that used to work for Cabelas. He has taken many range finders and GPS units home and tried them out. He says, for the money, the Nikon Monarch Laser 800 is the way to go. He said the 1200 is a better unit but is bigger. He also like the Leica but not the price. What he didn't like about the Leupold, although he said they were a decent unit, is that you seem to need a fairly reflective object to range where the Nikon didn't. The Nikon will also read down to about 10 yds. Another cohort has a Leupold and is not impressed with it either. I use a Bushnell yardage pro 800 at work and for the price it is a decent piece although a little bulky. It will only read down to about 16 yds. which is aggrivating when you need to read less.

I have a Bushnell 1000.

I used to have a 1500 for a while, and lent to a good friend.

He liked it... he really liked it... he R-E-A-L-L-Y liked it.

He is a good friend, so he has it.

I would get another. The Bushnell "Yardage Pro 1500" @ $333 (SWFA) gives you a choice of first reflection or last reflection, and a rain mode and brush mode - more betterer for shooters than the pinseaker (I think).

Wow! I wish I'd known that 4 months ago... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif That would be an excellent feature out on the plains.

Thanks for the info. At the rate I go thru range-finders, I'll be able to use that info in less than 2 years.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
