Just curious if anyone had seen one of these yet. I just saw an add for them today. They aren't a gun mounted optic, but a handheld thermal scope to look through. If it's allowed and works well enough I thought it might be pretty slick to take a look around with before leaving a set, see if a bobcat had snuck in and was hiding nearby. I hunt a lot of spots with real thick grass that cats can hide in really well. I am not familiar with the regs in my area on thermal optics yet, so I will have to check and see if it's legal also.

Think it would work to spot cats?
 
My brother ordered one and we played around with it a few weeks but he ended up sending it back. I'd say you can see a cat if its 50 yards and in good. The closer the better. At 100yards it would just be a heat blob. But it would let you know if something is in the area. The zoom gets extremely pixelated.
