Anyone have any experience with these? I'm looking to possibly buy one in a Ruger model 96 or a Henry version of the same action. NOT for shooting coyotes....just for vermin.

Are there any other manufacturers offering a lever action in this caliber??

Let me know what your thoughts are with one model or another. Thankyou!

No experience but do have a Henry Golden Boy .22 lever rifle which I like. Take a good look at SCOPE mounting options, you'll want one sooner or later for the .17HMR.

My Henry is NOT drilled and tapped for a mount. My .17HMR is a CZ 452 Varmint - great round IMHO.

I don't know about the golden boy, but I have owned to regular Henry's in .22 and .22 mag. IMHO I would go with Ruger if you have to have a lever. Both the Henry's I had seemed cheap. Reason being, the barrel rings and sights were just plastic. I'm not sure if the stock was, but it felt like it. It just seems that a quality gun would not have plastic pieces in those areas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I have a 96/22m and really like it. When I bought it 2.5 years ago I knew I wanted a lever action because my deer rifle is a lever action (Savage 99f) but I wanted a clip magazine instead of the tubular magazine. I didn't want to have to have to flip the gun around like a baton in order to unload it.THe only negative thing about the gun is it has a TERRIBLE trigger (about 7+ pounds); I have made improvements to it by stoning the sear surfaces and replacing the trigger plunger spring (4 pounds±). Now I realy enjoy shooting it.
