What is everyone's opinion on these lights? I want to have something where if I night hunt and can't find a partner to go, I can control the light and still shoot.

1. Optronics® NightBlaster 250 Yard Varmint Hunting Light

2. Lightforce - 170 Striker Riflescope Mounted Spotlight

3. Primos® Nightblaster Scope Lights

I have the nightblaster GL-500, which is supposed to be a 350 yard light. It seems to work real well and has given no trouble in the two years I have used it. I have never been around a lightforce, which by everything I have heard are great lights, so I can not give you a comparison of the two. The GL-500 is a six volt system and battery life so far has been great. Have used it for 2-3 hours continous with only a little fade in brightness. It also has a red flip down lense built onto it. They are selling at Bass Pro for $99.00. Just my $.02. Tony

Lightforce lights are over rated and over priced but they are a advertiser here while Optronics is not........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I have used both and yes lightforce is expensive but you get what you pay for and it is definetly with the money. When you look to buy a new rifle or scope you want to buy the best that you can afford, you dont just put on what is cheap right, the same applies to your light.

I have heard that lightforce is the way to go, but paying $200 for a light...I don't know if I can do that. Has anyone had any luck with the nightblaster? How does the batteries last? If you hunt with a partner what is the way to go with a handheld spotlight?

I need to also say that I am hunting in Indiana. Right now mostly hardwoods in the daytime, but would like to set up on the edge of fields that are no longer than maybe 400 yards at night? Would a nightforce be needed for this type of terrain?

Why buy a $200 light that you have to modify?

It's the closest thing to the ideal light that you can get. If somebody made one that was perfect off the shelf it would probably cost much more.

I have no complaints about the lightforce. The 170 makes those eyes GLOW from quite a good distance. it hasnt let me down yet. At first i was a little worried about the price but i like the beam adjustment feature, its really lightwieght and doesnt suck too much juice from the portable battery setup i made.

I bought the primos a week ago and it is headed back already. Charged it took it out and turned it on to adjust it a couple times then went dead and hasnt worked since. tried recharging and nothing. It claims to be a 350yd light and I couldnt see the 100 yds I was away from the call. ordered a lightforce monday, hope it works as good as everyone says if so I may buy a 140 for the gun
