After some reserch these are basicly the same thing for the same price. Anybody have succses with ethier of them. What one should I get?

Well other than coons there is not much other furbearers that are worth cleaning other than coyotes and i want to save those and bobcats for hunting.

Grizz or other dog proof work good if your trapping around farmsteads and don't want to catch the family pets. Which is where I do 90% of my coon trapping. I use mainly MB650s for my land sets and they were a little hard on the coon and fox, so I did pad them. You'll get more cats with traps than you will with a gun, at least that's what I've seen using both methods. Don't discount the grinners and skunks as I've seen them bring good money at times. I finish everything and ship to NAFA.

this is my first year trapping and those kinda of traps(griz getters) look easy to set and maintain. What would u reccomend for a easy simple trap that a kid could use on a trapline by himself. I will be trapping by a creek.

use duke 1.5's they are good coon traps and economical... set them in the water and you will have little trouble with pets

I have made up my mind.......i am buying 6 griz getters and 12 1.5 coilsprings. Just a quick question .......has any one ever used the griz getter in a set were u put it all the way in the ground were u can only see the opening and then cake mud around to make it look like a crawdad hole?

I would get the grizzs with the push trigger versus the pull ones your catch rate will be higher. Yes a hole set can work as long as the trap don't freeze in!!!

If your looking for something to use similar to a crawdad hole, look at the duffers, they are made to be placed in the ground. Only thing showing is a small hole.

Doing so with a lil griz will obstruct the "closing" of the loop inside on the coons foot! The spring loaded arm on the outside will be blocked by any dirt or mud and greatly reduce the speed and degree to which the loop closes on the foot. Duffers are made to bury...but not lil griz's. If you use lil griz's they should be set with the metal tube above ground. Good luck

Thanks guys.......I think I am actully getting the duke dp traps...the are the exact same ting except the staking system and the are 1/2 the price

I'll be curious to see what you think of them after the season. They are 1/2 price, but whether they are the exact same thing or not remains to be seen.

The crawdad set will work with the duff, not the grizz. The down side to this set is you loose all of the eye appele of your shiny new trap. Also make sure you know where you set the crawldad hole because after a rain if you do not have a coon in the trap it can be almost impossible to find. I have to ask also why would you want to dig a hole and burry a trap when you could just stick it in the ground? If you like digging the coon cuff will catch and hold coons too.

I got to play with the little Grizz's, Dukes and the new Coon Daggers last week. I really liked the Daggers, I think they are more expensive though. Those jumbo marshmallows work well on the triggers of the dog proof traps, I use my lure of choice also. The marshmallow just give some eye appeal and something for them to grap hold of.

If you have a creek to trap on, some 110 conibears would work great for mink and muskrats.
