Limb Saver..... Recoil Pads... make a differance....

I've had a LimbSaver for about 6 years on my SBE. This year it turned sticky and gummy, like it broke down somehow. Had to take it off because it started sticking to everything it thouched. Do I just have the worst equipment luck ever, or has anyone else had this issue? Gotta say, it worked great all the way up to it's untimely death. Went back to the factory pad this year and really noticed it.

I like the tactical stocks like black hawk special ops. They are spring loaded and reduce about 70% of the recoil. Makes shooting deadcoyote more like shooting gameloads.

Scobrey, some of the early Remingtons with the R-3 pads did the same thing. If you took it off and sent it back to them they'd replace it free of charge. The latter pads don't do it.
I have an 870 turkey gun that came with a hard rubber pad on it. It would kick the snot right out of ya. Five or six shots while patterning it was all I wanted. I put Limbsaver on it and can now shoot it all day if I want to. I also put one on my Marlin .44 magnum lever gun. Turned it into a pleasant plinker with full magnum loads.

I used to think they were for pansies until I tried one a few years back, now I am 100% sold on them for all of my guns. Can't recommend them enough.

My turkey gun is an H&R single shot 12 gauge 3.5 mag. It came with a hard pad and a steel rod in the buttstock to help with recoil. I removed the rod because it made the gun heavy and didn't help the upward flip of the barrel. I them added a Limbsaver grind to fit pad that I left at full width at the rear and tapered to fit the buttstock. It is now light and handy to carry and is very manageable with the 3 inch loads I use for turkey.

I have a recoil pad on all of my rifles and shotguns. I either use a Pachmayr Decelerator or a Limbsaver they really make a difference.

Another SVL believer here. I installed one on my 300 win mag and it is now a pleasure to shoot. The rifle is the lite model and it did punish me when at the bench, now it is tame and I am really glad that I tried their recoil pad. Worth every penny.

I was TOO CHEAP to buy a Limbsaver for my 17 HMR so I make my wife shoot it!!!!

I agree, the pad in the picture is not a Limbsaver but rather a made for Savage pad by someone else.

They are good however but not as good as a Limbsaver! (My wife's 7mm Rem Mag wears a Limbsaver. With a heavy kicking rifle they absorb so much recoil that your scope better have be a long eye relief model or you'll end up like my wife did .......... getting wacked by the scope ..........

...... good thing for me ......... she was a good sport about it .............

One more pad to think about (ugly as a mud fence but very effective) and that's the Shooter's Friend!

Three 44s

I just realized that there is no name on the good pad... so maybe it was made for savage... but if limbsaver is said to be better... then i need to find out for sure because this one is wonderful.

I also have one of the earlier pads on a rifle that has become sticky. I'm not sure what kind of pad it is .I bought the gun used.its a really strange material. I was told that when the pad came new it came with a little stand to set it in ,in the safe so it would not get lopsided.the only reason I put up with it is because it works so good.I wish I knew what maker it is but it don't have anything written on it and the old fellow I got it from could not remember. So,not wanting to give it up,and it being sticky and messy as h***,I made a leather cover that laces up on it and so far that has worked out OK.It is not just a single piece of rubber stuff it is several layers with a gooey stuff that I guess was not supposed to ooze out but with age it is about to give up.
