Limbsaver Barrel De-resonator

Has anyone tried this and if so have you noticed a difference? I'm wondering if it's worth the money or just a fad.
Thanks
Toby

It is not a fad.. it will work. The only down side is YOU
must shoot a 3 shot group for EVERY 1/4 to 1/2 inch of adjustment that you slide the resinator down the barrel.
You can also shot a 2 shot group and if the bullits do not touch move the resinator until they do or within 1/2 inch and make smaller adjustments from there. The Browning Boss
system is similar in that they attempted to control barrel
harmonics from the end of the barrel and it did work. I have a boss on a Winchester model 70 stainless left hand
in 270 and it WORKS. You must find an accuate load then fine tune with the resinator.

If you don't reload they work fine. If you do reload, you can tune your load to your barrel. I've done it both ways and you end up shooting about the same amount of rounds before you fine a load or the magic spot. My $.02 RR

I agree..... generally, it's about how much work you are willing to do. Sounds like the 'ol limbsaver doesn't really save ya much from that either.......oh well.

Thanks for all the info. I think I'll just put the money I would spend on the Limbsaver to a box or two of shells for right now.

Aren't they to reduce the amount of barrel jump experienced at the shot? If you were gonna put it on a light kicking varmint gun, i don't really see the point. To me it looks like you'd be trying to get rid of something thats not even there.

sixshooter,They are not for reducing barrel jump,They are designed to change the harmonics of the barrel by reducing vibrations from the bullet traveling down the bore.Buy moving the piece up or down the barrel you are changing the point at which the bullet leaves the bore by cutting down on how much the barrel whips after the shot.It does not seem to work as advertised according to what I have read from tests done. The Browning system seems to work better and I believe it has to do with the weight of the system being further out on the barrel therefore cutting more of the whip out of the barrel after getting it adjusted for the load you are using,Browning calls it the sweetspot in their advertisements. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

A friend put one on his 270W Weatherby, with no other changes, it improved his groups from 1½ moa to 3/4 moa. I tried one it on a .243 Ultra and it made no change, but the rifle was already shooting sub moa, I guess it was asking too much of it to improve accuracy to less than the 1/2 moa it was already shooting, and I suspect that would be the case with BR rifles. For the $12-$15 it cost, it would be well worth it if it saved you from buying several different types of ammo for a non-handloader. I know I've wasted a heck of a lot more money on new products than that, that offered absolutely no return on my money!!
