lion dogs

Monstermuleys.com has some good hound forums too. Drag a coonhide/scent rag until they are bigger and have the hang of things. Coons or stray house cats when they get older, just put them in a live trap, let them go, 2 mins later let the dogs go. If you are hunting for lions, bobcats, or bears, walk a track with them and see what they make of it. It also helps a ton to run them with experienced dogs, to show them how its done. And dont let them get away with chasing what you dont want them too!!

Training a pup or a couple pups can be tough or great .Most pups will want to play when together and training should be done alone if they want to play. Now any type of critter that your pup wants to chase or trail is great as a pup it is learning how to trail.Later when it is older and has caught the type of game you want it on you can do all the trash breaking then.Do not whip or shock a pup on anything untill you have it trailing very well and hunting the desired game animal. Many very good hunting dogs have been ruined by someone not as smart as the dog.I have been hunting big game dogs for over 30 years and not all pups make the grade. Some will take longer to get with the program,Redbones are a little slower to start. Most will start to get interested in trailing and treeing at six to ten months old,but it could be longer.I catch lion, bear and hog all over the west.See ya Mav
