My dad made it a point - to take me and - see these 3 movies as they came out in the Theatre ?? 1970ish ?

Interesting.....It seems that most everyone else's choices are movies made since about 1960. A few older ones, but not near as many as I would have thought.

I guess that makes me the old man out, since most of my choices were from the early-30s to the mid-50s.
{There are many more of those old movies that I think everyone should see, but I didn't want to hog all of the fun. Hahahaha}
 
Have to agree w/tnshootist about Lonesome Dove. John, you would like the book "Charles Goodnight Cowman and Plainsman by J. Evetts Haley. Understand parts of Lonesome Dove were based on Goodnight's exploits. I believe Blue Duck in LD was a portrayal of Quanah Parker, with whom Goodnight entered an agreement to live and let live...quite an accomplishment at the time.

Palo Duro area history quite interesting to me as my father was raised there and used to talk of meeting Mr. Goodnight as a youngster.

I don't watch many movies but I did run into "Paint Your Wagon" on TV, I didn't start at the beginning of the movie but I thought it was great, not so sure about the singing though...
