montana- that is a big buck in your avatare. we have used h-4350 , h-4831, mrp , mrp-2 all with good success. there is a re-17 article on 6mmbr. we have not really tried it yet. it will probably get you the highest velocity
 
another good place is longrange hunting.com. one load few mention is in the norma manual. 58.7 of mrp-2, and the 130 norma match hp; WLRM primer. this is the max load.

I just loaded up some with RE 17. I'm starting with 50 grains and going out tomorrow to chrono it from that same gun. Most of the recipe's I was getting from guys on LRH.com were from custom barrels longer and heavier than mine so I backed down 2 grains and we'll see, hopefully I don't have any pressure issues.

One of the guys I shoot with shoots a 6.5-284. His favorite powders are h4831sc and R22. I have seen these powders shoot very well.
 
I had to send mine back to Savage. The go around was less than 4 weeks. I loaded up some fire forming loads with h4350 at 44.8 with a 140g bullet. Extremily hard to extract, so much could not resize cases (Norma). Savage returned stating they repaired and polished the chamber. I had also tried 140g bullet with 44.0g IMR 4831 still had extracting problems. In the end I bought some Nosler 130g and had extraction problems also, that is when I sent it back. I had the smith where I bought it fire some factory ammo and check it out, he reported no extraction problems. The head expands to .0015 over factory this seems to be ok by some or excessive by others. i will report more when I can get out.

I should have added that I have a custom 6.5-284 built on a 700 vls/Kreiger barrel in short action and these loads are mild for this rifle.

458 win that buck is one of the magnificant 7 in the kings pictures and calenders. i found it on the enet and some guy that has the head is tring to sell it.
 
Took mine out to the range today to put its first rounds through it. Well...It was windy as [beeep] but once I got on paper I was able to get two shots touching then a flyer. The one thing I didn't like was when I turned down my scope from 15x to 9x my poi went up an inch.

I'm convinced that the rifle is much better than I am so for now I'm going to keep the recipe I have and do alot more shooting before I try to fine tune a load. I hope to get a chrony on it this week if it warms up a bit. It's definitely ready to head to KS as I'm minute of White tail out to 300 yards.

Yeah it helped out a lot jim thanks i took my savage out to day and did some calling and got me a young yote at 140 yards with nosler 120 bt there custom factory loads. i like it so far but the bts are a little messy. still waiting on my dies to get here so i cant load any thought about 140 accubonds or 142 bthp sierras.
