Wyoming rewrote the regs for hunting deer and antelope allowing .22 centerfires using at least a 60 gr bullet. What bullets and powders should I be considering. My 22/250 is a 1-14 twist. My. 223 rra predator pursuit is 1-8 and loves 69 bthp.

Yep i know where to shoot them. And if they allowed 55s I would use seirra 1365s. But thats not allowed so Im looking for a good 60 gr hunting bullet. I don't. usually shoot 60 gr bullets in my 22/250. Guess if i can find some i wll just trail and error this summer.

i shot mine last year with 60gr sierra hp using ar comp powder.

Girlfriend shot hers with the 64gr winchester factory loads.

both are great choices.

nosler 60gr partion might be another good choice.

just remember your not shooting a 300 win mag so avoid shooting through the shoulder. if you make clean chest shots you will have no problems

Twist maybe an issue on the 22-250.

62 TSX will work well in the .223

I'd be tempted to try 60gr vmax on speed goats, they aint all that hard to kill.

Don't have to be a big boomer to shoot shoulders, just takes a good bullet. Shot plenty of deer with a 243 in the shoulders . Also a few deer and pigs shoulder shot with a .223, it can be done.

For a 14 twist 22-250, I'd take a look at the Sierra 63gr Semi-point... It's short for it's weight, so it should stabilize in the 14 twist, especially if you push it hard. And, I think it's built fairly tough.

I suspose they could take a round and pull the bullet. Law also states it must be a hunting type bullet not a varmint bullet. How you ID a bullet could be tough. But I want to follow the law so box nolser partition 60gr will be ordered if I can get a box. I have never used my 22/250 for deer or antelope but I have many with my old 270. Just a novelity hunt but I want to do it right.

I just seen a box of those when i was visiting my niece last weekend. I passed on them cuz I didn't want to shoot those at coyotes. I'm sure they're gone by now but I can call them tomorrow and check if you want..

+1 I have used the 1365 sierria 55gr and it turns everything to jello inside a deer out to 200+ yrds easy. The bullet sticks to the other side of the deers rib cage and doesnt exit. It destroys all vitals completely.

Sorry to go off topic but RileyLake are you still shooting the Sierra 65gr gameking in your 22-250 for yotes. I believe it was a 12 twist Savage and you were having great results. The topic came up a while back and I had stated you were stabilizing that bullet just fine in your Savage. She's perty long so there would be slim to no chance with the 14 twist.

this is a great deer and antelope bullet, use a max load of IMR 4350 with a win primer, 60g Sierra is also a deer bullet.

Last antelope that I killed was with a 55g Sierra out of a 223 at 470 yards, with a load of 26.5g of win 748, dropped like a sack of hammers.

No, i didnt mean that its not possible to shoot through the shoulder with smaller calibers but your 100% right that it will depend on bullet choice more than anything.

I had talked to sierra bullet smiths before I made the move to the 60gr hp and the reason was it was one of the 3 that they listed for being tough enough to be a deer bullet. the jacket is thicker in the 60, 63 and 65 gr pills to hold up to 22 250 and 220 swift speeds. thats what I was told and my results seem to reflect this.

Yes, still using the Sierra 65 GameKing. I still think it's the best coyote bullet for the 22-250, bar none. Excellent ballistics, and it's a DRT every time as long as you do your part.

I shoot a Sako A7 22-250 with a 1:14" twist. I bought a box of 60gr Nosler Partitions to test them and my rifle did stabilize them very well. I was guessing they wouldn't but they did. I shot under 1" at 100 with them.
