Loading for my Howa 7.62x39

Granted, it the same round shot in AK's and SKS's but its not the same rifle by any means.I have125 grain Pro Hunters and a box of Nosler Varmegedons on the way.First reloads with H4198 and the PH bullet were decent but not what I was hoping for. Do you that reload for the 7.62 have a load that seems to shine in your bolt action rifle? I'm going to try H335 next time out then wait on the Noslers to arrive. So far the Wolf 123 grain HP shoots the best and I don't have to reload.
 
I have several compatible powders...just not those two. That being said, I have an OAL question.Do you adjust your OAL to fit the chamber?

if you have access to any DO-63 (shooters world blackout) give that a whirl. its very similar to 1680 - which as i understand is the x39 powder basically - but its a little denser and just a smidge faster. use 1680 data as your start point, or Lovex has published data for it on its website.


its also quite a bit cleaner from my experience than 1680 is - so much less crap in my receiver when shooting suppressed subs its amazing.
 
Shortly after buying my rifle (Howa), I bought dies and Hornady brass. The Hornady has small primer pockets. Yesterday at the LGS, I found some Winchester once fired brass and bought another 50 pieces. I noticed it has a large primer pocket. Will the difference in the two effect my reloading? Meaning different pressures or accuracy? Never run in to this before with brass with two different size primers.
 
My luck with Winchester brass has been split necks after one firing and not overly hot loads. Never compared pressures but did notice different poi and group size with Win brass and Rem small primer brass using same ingredients. That's with 125 soft points..
 
Should I try to adjust OAL or just work with the book OAL?I also shot some RL-7 powder. Results weren't stellar but decent.

I did that already Greg, just didn't know if it will make a big difference. Guess I'll play with seating depth and see what happens. Its getting the recoil lug area bedded right now. Trying to make chicken salad out of chicken poo plastic stock. Will open the barrel channel up tomorrow. Going to try and make this little rifle a shooter.
