Loads for 30 gr berger in a .223

I was thinking about trying out the 30 grain Bergers for my .223. Does anyone have any load info for these bullets?

I started at 24gr. of RL10 for 223 for the 30's and ran out of case capacity as I worked up. Guat brass BR-4 and 71/2's primers, I Also have some 4198 loads worked up started at 23gr. and am past that a good ways. Same brass and primers. Both loads shot well on the warm end also, out of 1-9 twist AR's and Savage fv, also through 1-12 Rem.twist.

In 22-250 I Started at 34gr. of RL10 with the 30's, also I'm well past that.
Win. neck sized brass, Fed Match primers. I'll not waste my time try'n different powders as I;ve found a RL10 load for it.

I've seen loads posted for 4000fps. in the 221FB. The bullet will handle all the speed your case/pressure can muster. Does'nt come apart, If you look around you'll see loads posted for the 220 Swift over 5000fps.also.

just big ohio groundhogs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif small entrance,no exit and like jello inside. Reminds me of 17 Rem.kills. I've shot 7 groundhogs with the 223 and the 30's. Have'nt got one with the 22-250 yet. They're not near as destructive as a 40VMax.

Velocity falls off quick and of course they have a lousy BC. I hunt some populated areas so these are nice for my use there. Maybe a bit light for Coyote's past 100yds. Although some folks hunt yotes with a 17HMR. It'd be worth a try for close up hide hunters as I really had to look for the entrance hole on some of the Chuck's and all dropped on the spot with upper body shots. All were inside of 200 yards.

I think I'm going to stick with the 40gr v-max. I haven't loaded any up yet, but if I can get a load that shoots well, I'll use them. They should be heavy enough for yotes, and the smaller stuff to pop just how I want them to.

I think you'll get them to shoot nice. I used a Lyman 1200 on my loads as my Reddings don't like metering RL10,4198. I had my most impressive groups with the 22-250,Sav.FV 4 shots basically a 3/8" hole with 35.7 gr. RL10. Would'nt ya know I have'nt seen a chuck when I brought the 22-250 out with this load. It's difficult now with the beans so high, I only have 2 hay fields to hunt so when he mows them I'll bring the 22-250 out again.

If you try'em on a Yote post the results as I think they'd be fur friendly and quite effective out to 100yds (maybe a bit more) on Coyote. I may go calling here in another couple weeks. Yotes are a little thin in my neck of the woods and I do better in Jan,Feb.at night here.
