Local Dealer Screwed Up My Form 4 Paperwork

Man I am having rotten luck with dealers. First, the guy I bought my two Silencerco cans from takes close to 4 months to get my cans form 3'd to my local dealer. Then today I call ATF and find out that there was an issue with my Form 4 where the local dealer put my name instead of the name of my trust in the transferee block and and made another mistake on the form also. So I call the dealer and advise that ATF says they sent the paperwork back to be corrected. So he puts me on hold then comes back and says oh yeah we got the letter from ATF you need to come in and correct. So I get there and let the guy know I'm not to happy and then he informs that actually they have already corrected the form and sent it back to ATF. Arrggghhhh! What a cluster. The kicker is that they made the same mistakes on the Form 4 for my other can but ATF hasn't sent that one back to them yet.

I was initially really annoyed but then I realized I need to count my blessings. I'll get my cans eventually and it's not the end of the world if I have to wait a bit longer. (I think stuff like this is what they call a first world problem.) I'm only posting this as a word to the wise. Make sure you are dealing with people who are squared away. If I had to do it all over again I would only buy a suppressor from a local dealer who comes highly recommended and has lots of experience with transfers. Live and learn I guess.

It's one of the biggest reasons why I want the HPA to pass, I hate having to find competent dealers that don't charge insane fees

Not only competent dealers but dealers that won't lie to you and say they have a product "in stock" when all they REALLY have is a Ser. # that they've been assigned and they are still waiting for it to be Form 3 approved before they actually have it in there hands. When dealing with out of state dealers you ALWAYS want to ask, do you actually have the product in your store/hands or have you only been assigned a Ser. # for one that you are still waiting to get. It can make a pretty big difference on the actual amount of time it takes to receive it at your local dealer.

You got that right, B23. I'm pretty sure that what caused the 4 month time frame on getting my cans form 3'd to my local dealer. And FYI, ATF got my form 4 on June 13th. So anybody who sent their paperwork in mid-June should be getting close.

I have asked and been lied to by out-of-state dealers. Anymore I'm going to deal locally for suppressors.
