Lohman Circe call

Bought a Lohman Circe call at the drugstore today. I wanted to get an open reed call, but they didn't have any. I got a 3 in 1 caller, raspy, mellow, and squeeker. All you do is turn the barrel and get a new sound. I tried it out and I can see that this is something new to learn, and practice. I must say I would rather have had the open reed version, as the instructional tape Lohman sent sounded as though the reed type was more versatile, and sounded more natural to me. This thing doesn't sound like I thought it would.

I guess it is a start, no? Suggestions/advice welcome.

SS you have to practice. You can can cover the end of a closed reed caller and open it while blowing. It will give a baawaaa type sound. Remember to sound like something attacked(faster excited cadence) or something dying(slower longer cadence). Don't worry, we probably all sound weird calling.

I am not familiar with the particular model you have there, but I am betting that it will call predators just fine. Don't worry about sounding like a real rabbit. If you can make it sound like some little critter in distress, the predators will come.

A Circe 3in1 call goes with me to every stand. I probably use a open reed call 90% of the time but, have found the Circe can be a very effective call. Mine is usually set on the medium setting. I think the tone of the 3-1 sounds really good. If your open reeds aren't working I wouldn't be afraid to pull out the Circe, or any closed reed. They WILL call coyotes.

BTW I usually take 4 or 5 open reed calls and 2 or 3 closed reed calls to all my stands.
