LOHMAN ELECTRONIC CALLERS-WHO'S USING ONE??

What can you guys tell me about the Lohman tape callers compared to others, Johnny Stewart, Foxpro, Phantom, ect. I bought one that is on the way for $110 completely refurbished. I looked at the Lohman and the Johnny Stewart. One was made in China the other Taiwann. Didn't see any difference in the two. Do they sound equally as well as other callers. I bought a Phantom just the other day but am returning it. I don't like that the calls are only 12 seconds(continued pushing buttons) & I think tapes offer more selection since the Phantom is limited to the calls it comes with. I'm new at Predator calling this year so let me know what you think. Thanks!!

Steve....I have a lohman electronic caller. I don't really use it much any more. My favorite time to use it is when the pups first emerge, and I throw in a pup in distress tape, and usually clean house. Other than that, I usually use mouth calls. I did use my electronic quite often when I first got it, and killed quite a few coyotes. Let me know what you would like to know.

Thanks for the info Cowboy. I guess I've just heard so much about the JS calls and the Phantoms/Foxpros I was wondering if the Lohman tape callers were good callers. Mine should be here by Thrus this week so I guess I'll find out. SOunds like the Lohmans been a very good player for you. Did you simply buy an electronic caller when you first started then switch to hand calls? ANy techniques you might have for suggestions with the electronic callers??? Thanks again! Good luck with your hunting.

steve, i have one and I have read opinions on this caller and most of the problems with it are the volume knob gets kinda funky, wouldn't ya know they're right, when you touch it it makes a static noise, when your out and you are trying to be ever so quiet you reach down touch the knob and it sounds like pink floyd with there amps cranked way up with no music just that LOUD static sound, and you want to run over the some bit$$ cause it just shifted every yote in 5th gear,,,,reckon other than that it works fine,, when yours does that, you can turn on but don't turn it up for a couple seconds then turn ever so slow, and it works,,, good luck

When your volume control starts to do that get a can of electrical cleaner, disconnect the power source and spray it in the back side of the switch and rotate it back and forth while you soak it real good. let it dry and it should work with less static. If you have a compressor blow it out with air . It is dirt and lint in the switch that is causing the switch to act that way,..... James L.

P.S. The JS will do it also.!!!!! Have had my JS For about 7 years now. Still calls 'em in so they can be killed with great regularity. James

Redwolf & James,

Thank you for the imput. The solution to reduce the static is especially helpful. I just got mine and yes it has a little static when you first turn it on. However if you do leave it down for 2-3 seconds it goes away and yes move the volume slowwwwwly. Thanks guys! Hopefully will get out this week for the first time with some really good tips from this forum. Good luck!!

Steve
