Well, it wasn't that long it was still a pretty good poke.
I sat out this evening deer hunting and saw several deer including the tall rack buck that I have been after for a few weeks now. The buck came out about 950 yards away just over the fence and hung out on the shoulder of the highway for about 15 minutes before going back in the woods and never showed himself again. You know, it's kinda funny.... Nearly every picture I have of the deer is after dark and this is the first time I have seen the deer out during daylight hours (about an hour before dark) and the dang thing was just hanging around less than 100 yards from a fairly busy highway. At one point an 18 wheeler honked his horn at the buck, he looked up at the truck then went back to grazing. Kinda odd...
Anyway, a group of hogs came out at about 400 yards just after legal shooting light and I was just about to get up anyway so I went ahead and popped one. I picked out the smallest pig in the group, put the cross hairs on his shoulder and let it fly. The 140 grain A-Max hit him hard and he went down immediately. The bullet left about a 1" exit hole just behind his off shoulder and he moved around just enough to bet bloody as crud.
This was my first outing with this rifle that I just traded into and while I don't intend to carry it very far I absolutely love it. The rifle is a custom Remington 260 sitting in a McMillan A5 with a Badger DBM, the scope is a NF 3.5-15.
