Long term storage of thermal scopes??

What is the preferred method of storage for your thermal scopes after the season is over? The manual says to not leave the batteries in for long term storage, so with the battery removed do you cover the contacts where the battery goes on the scope or just take the battery out and put it in the gun safe?

You're supposed to stick it in a freezer too to limit offgassing or something like that..

Gene, no, there are no oxidative gases occurring in the battery compartment with the batteries removed. You could wipe them gently with Vaseline but not necessary. It is the batteries that corrode the terminals, with them gone no corrosion.
