Looking at buying a ATV

I have a 2002 350 Honda Rancher,it's a foot shift which doesnt bother me,,i have a friend that has the electronic thumb shifter and if his bike stalls he has to dig out the manual shifter lever and put it back in nuetral manually
anyway the ONLY thing i have had to do to my Honda 350 Rancher is replace the choke cable,the replacement part was like $20 i think and i did the work myself,if you have to have a dealer do the work you ARE going to pay over inflated labor rates
it took me about 1/2 an hour to do the choke cable myself
and another SUGGESTION is to buy a manual from clymer or 1 like a chiltons,they are easy to read and understand and it WILL save you some time AND money AND many headaches because if you just start pulling parts off or pull them off in the wrong order you may end up paying the dealers over inflated prices to put your ATV back together

660 Yamaha Grizzly with "brear claw" rubber. Very very comfortable ride and more than enough power to get the chores done.
 
We own all polaris.. 330, 2- 500's, 700 and 800 (sportsmans) and waiting on our Ranger to arrive. Oh and cant forget the sons Outlaw.
Best ground clearance, BEST ride hands down, and more power, excellent for hauling weight, etc..
Yes they are more expensive. But you definetly get what you pay for.
I LOVE them.
 
We use 2 polaris 500 at our company for surveying and after 5000 miles the only thing we have done is general maitinance, replacing belts and brakes. They have never left anyone walking.
 
I have an '06 Bombardier Outlander XT. It's been a good machine. I bought it because it came with a 5 year warranty.
It does seem to be hard on gas though. Its the first machine I've owned so I can't compare with others.
 
Check out the numbers in the Alaska bush where more non recreational miles are logged on ATV's than the rest of America combined and its Honda by at least 5 to 1. Reliability is the issue.
I haven't ridden any 4 wheeler I consider quiet enough to get me to a calling stand unless the wind is over 40. Anything that hears your caller probably heard your 4 wheeler get there. There may be areas with a road system where that is not an issue. Would suspect the mules are as quiet as my Argo but I wouldn't trust it anywhere I couldn't walk home from.
 
Prairie 700....POWER HOUSE!! I put a moose plow on it and it's unbelievable how much snow can be moved with this machine!

Im going to buy a sportsman once I get my Honda450r sold.
 
the box on the back of mine doesnt even make a difference,and it REALLY comes in handy storing damn near ANYTHING in it

My yami has 6 years of trails and pushing snow with the county plow. To date have repaired the following;

-Winch Cable
-Changed fluids
-Key switch (Lost both sets)
-Winch Cable
-Put air in Tires
-Winch Cable

i have a polaris sportsman 500 and yamaha grizzly 600.......ride comfort goes to the polaris.....toughness goes to the grizzly
 
i have an 88 honda fourtrax 300, and it has been through about 6 sets of tires, the only thing done to it was change the oil every few years. it has been road very hard and still starts ever time.

I also have a 98 polaris sittin around back that dont run.
the only thing good about polaris is that they are smooth ridin
 
hell i just found out last tuesday i am getting divorced and am selling my Honda Rancher,,it was the soon to be EX or the 4 wheeler,,so i decided to get rid of BOTH,,LOL, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif,,,i DO NEED to put it in the classifieds i guess but how many people actually sell something that size in there,,oh i forgot to Add,,,im gonna miss the Honda /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif,,,im selling the 4 wheeler because i dont ride it anymore and the kids dont either

I have a Yamaha Kodiak 400 4 x 4 great machine, But to answer nmleon question on the quietest I vote for Honda with the electric shift.
 
POlaris are the worst type of quads you can get. Every Polaris i got i smashed or blew the engine or something else. Get a Honda or Suzuki. Im goin to get a new one this summer after i get a job. GO FOR HONDA!!!!!

I just purchased a Can-Am Outlander 500XT. I did a lot of research and pricing. The Outlander came with everything I wanted in the XT package. I have owned Yamaha ATV's and really liked them, this time my decision went with the Can-Am.
 
i have a 2000 350 honda rancher 4x4 push button shift with reverse,itp lites tires.i bought mainly for hunting and i love it.i have had two deer tied to the front and one on the back and loaded it up in the toyota with no problems.i think honda has the best,just my two cents
