That's really what I wanted the original poster to "get", that his $200 would be money down the drain.
The mass market air rifles are not worth the money. You won't be happy with one of them.
I sold all of my air rifles to get back to shooting powder burners. I did keep one, a Beeman R-7, for my grad kids to shoot when they came up for a visit. I had an RWS Model 34 which was very good, but harder to cock. The R-7 is much easier to cock, so I kept it.
I bought nearly all of my air rifles from Straight Shooter's in St Cloud, MN. Call them, and they WILL advise you wisely. The guys there are first class, and have integrity. That's why I bought from them.

I put a 3x-9x simmons on it and have killed pidgeons and starlings at over 70 yds off the top of light poles.

Tarey Those Spring air rifles will eventually curl the crosshairs on regular rifle scopes due to the unique recoiling. You might want to look into an Air gun scope that is designed for these rifles. I ruined 2 scopes before I called the manufacturers and go this info. (Simmons and BSA)

I have an older pretty beat up RWS 22 caliber air rifle that I would sell reasonable if you would be interested . I'll have to check the model but I think it's a model 48 .

I have over 1000 pellets thru this gun and the scope still works flawlessly.
Thanks
