Looking for a 44 carbine stock

A good buddie of mine has a jewel of a Ruger 44 carbine. It was built around 1962 and has only 4 ser digits. The trouble is someone shortened the stock. Any idea where he can buy a stock in new condition?
 
I saw that one too but it looks like there is a crack on the bottom of it.
This rifle looks to be in 95% condition or better so he would like a stock in as good condition if possible. He could rework a 96 stock but it would not be original if he did that.
