Looking for a different e-call

I want something as reliable as my garoge door opener (only replaced once in 24 years). Before the foxpro worshipers get all offended, yes they do have great customer service. I had a shockwave and it had issues, sent it back, they fixed it, it worked. Even had issues with the decoy, they fixed it.

I had issues with the shock wave again and they graciously offered to fix it again. I returned it to where I bought it. I can't/won't keep returning it for repair. I expect more for 600.00. Maybe my expections are different from others. My time like others is limited and I expect things to work. From reading the forum I had the only shock wave lemon ever made.

So, I need something that will work, turn on and off, turn the volume up and down and change the sounds out to fifty yards. Paul.

I am surely not a FoxPro worshiper, but I am on their Field Staff, and I try to help anybody I can. If you have a Shockwave with chronic problems, FoxPro will get it taken care of. The records show that the Shockwave has not been a problem ecaller. It has been received with lots of enthusiasm all over the country. Yote Yoda and 4 Paws have used theirs a bunch with no problems. Of course that doesn't mean you can't have a problem. I doubt that returning it to where you bought it will help the issue any. You need to deal directly with FoxPro on warranty issues. Good hunting at ya!

I know you don't want to hear this---but I would get another SHOckwAve. I think you just got a bad caller and that's going to happen when you produce as many as they do. I have had great luck with my SHockWAve and others that I hunt with have had the same results.

Lemons happen even with the best products in the world. I have been chasing Old Wiley for over 30 years and I know how important time and success are for all of us that do this----so I wouldn't say get another SHockWAve unless I thought it was the best thing to do.

If you must try something else I would look at the Johnny Stewart line of calls with All Predator Calls.

I agree with yote yoda, I have an alpha dogg now and have zero complaints. it has kiiled and continues to kill tons of fox over here, but I havehunted over quite a few FoxPro's and while my call works fine I have never seen the sound clarity or workmanship out of another brand that FoxPro has shown. if I had more money a shockwave would be my next purchase...(I got the alpha dogg for Christmas from my mom)

Like has been said, lemons can happen with anything. I would call foxpro and tell them you want a replacement shockwave.

I started with a 416b (used a mp3 player for extra sounds), then a Firestorm, and now a Fusion, and never had a problem with any of them. I still have all 3, and they work the same today as when I first got them.

I just ordered a Fusion with an extra speaker, but I also have an alpha dog. If someone cannot afford a top of the line FoxPro or does not need all the "Fox Features", the alpha dog is an excellent caller with a more simple but easy to read color remote and categorized sounds.

Yoda & all,

Thanks for your suggestions & Yoda yes I have thought seriously about getting another shockwave. If anyone has ever heard one setup with the sound going from one speaker to the other and the sound going up and down they clearly sound perfect.

My history stems from using handcalls for fox in Alaska starting in 1978. Years back I picked up a Burham bro compu caller, I had to replace the chargeable battery after 20yrs. I usually start with a hand call and just have the e-caller on barley loud enough to hear....

Thanks guys, I will concider your suggestions. Paul

I was out elk hunting this am and heard some yotes going at it. Worked my way in that direction I saw two and they split. I dropped to kneeling positon and started squalling on my cow elk call one coyote came back and climbed on a rock pile about 75 yds out. I had the cross hairs on him and let him pass. I don't think I could have gotten my e-caller in to action that fast. Maybe after elk seaon I'll go back, but next week it is on to Montana for elk hunting and I also have a wolf tag.

I'm a fanboy of no one call, I like foxpro higher end calls, but for the firestorm and the other lower ones, I think are terrible, yes they sound good, but you never know how far the remote will work. I've had 150 dollar callers with way better remote range, and that never failed. Primos remotes are the best remotes out there as far as range and ease of use (IMO). Mine have never been affected by the cold. I've 7 different foxpros, I sold Primos and Johnny Stewarts to buy foxpros, and now I'm back to primos alpha dogg. You can get them for under 220.00 to your door. I never had to use customer service for Primos,Foxpro, or Flextone, but I have had to deal with John Stewart calls customer service, and they took care of problem.

If you have a Primos remote that works better and easier than a TX1000 from FoxPro, you are one lucky dude. The FHSS technology utilized on the TX1000 is the most reliable on the market today, and it is easiest to read and operate. 50 true presets is a hard feature to beat. Quality of the sounds is far better too.

No problem, Tucker 71. Me being a member of the FoxPro field staff does not require me to post anything. It is my opinion though, and it is based on fact.

im with possum, i have an alpha dogg and while the remote range has been great for me the tx1000 is hands down a better remote. i wish i could afford the shockwave. for now ill have to stick with the primos until I find and extra few hundred dollars lying around.....not likely soon.

I agree that the TX1000 is the best remote on the market today. I have used most brands of all calls over the past 30 years but IMO the TX1000 has raised the bar!!

I agree with the TX-1000 opinions. Best remote I have ever used. The categories and display are outstanding!

The larger display was the answer to me not being able to read the remote for my firestorm as well as I used to, due to my aging eyes.

I called Foxpro soon after the larger remotes started coming out to see if they could upgrade my firestorm electronics to the newer larger remotes (for the fury) and they told me the electronics were entirely different and that could not be done. That was a blessing in disguise actually, because as everyone knows, they came out with the TX-1000 and the fusion this year. Same size call, with more funcionality, and the best remote.

On top of that, I don't like the skull camo (which is the only camo the fusion comes in). So when I talked to them about ordering a fusion and not liking the skull camo and wanting a mossy-oak break-up case, they said they weren't getting any in for a few weeks. About an hour later the phone rang and they told me Mike found a break-up case and they built me a fusion with that.

I'm a happy camper!

I guess I'm an old dog. I don't care much about camo design (within reason). The TX-1000 is the best remote for the feature rich FoxPro callers. For 1/3 the price, the Alpha Dog is a fine caller. Very clear (when used with well charged batteries), louder than many FP callers (until you get to the highest end ones, the remote can be operated day 1 without even looking at a manual (due to less features), and the built-in hunts on the AD are a great LEARNING tool (not saying they're great in and of themselves, but do give you an idea of how to put together good sequences). The FoxPro sounds are OK, but there are better. The FHSS is better so if you want to put your caller (and scent) 200 yards away from you, that may be important. Me I've never put my caller more than 30-40 yards away from me, and then only rarely. I have the Fusion (skull camo) with extra speaker ($584) and the Alpha Dog (no extra speaker necessary, $210) both are excellent callers.

cmatera, give us an idea of sounds you think are better than FoxPro's 24 bit sounds. I think the Mark II 24 bit sounds are the best available.

Al, there are too many good sounds to list. You know that. JS has some great ones, Dennis Kirk has some great ones. Bob Aronson's crow calls are legendary (available on the FP, but obviously were someone else's first. Burnham Bros has some very effective sounds, and let's not forget WT. The subject of the best sounds has been beat to death and is subjective. If that's the only detail you can nit-pick out of the whole post, it's not much. Your overzealous attempt at total FoxPro domination of this forum have driven a lot of guys away. Just sayin'.

cmatera, it was you who said "The FoxPro sounds are OK, but there are better". If you had said, in my opinion, I'd just accept that, but you are stating something as fact when it surely is not fact. I'll agree quickly that Johnny Stewart has some good sounds; I use some of them. In my opinion, Dennis Kirk has never had a "Great" sound. Some are useful but not many. Bob Aronsohn's sounds are great, not sure about who they belonged to before him as you indicated. He is on the FoxPro field staff and is arguably the greatest crow hunter to ever live. As for WT sounds, I wouldn't have anything to do with the unmentionable one or anything he touches. His business practices are a bit unsavory as the courts have proven.

As far as "Overzealous attempts at total FoxPro domination of this forum", that is evidently your opinion. I can't speak for Yote Yoda, but I only try to help people, especially the newbies. I have no agenda on this forum or any other forum.

I wish you good health and good hunting.

ALL call makers have SOME good sounds. Bob A's sounds available on the FP belonged to HIM before they were licensed to FP. Although I have never had bad dealings with the owner of WT, enough people have to be leery of him.
Some think MOJO's decoys are better than FP's, some think Remington, Avery and Yoters Den bags are better than FP's, some think some WT sounds are better than some of FP's, some think Sony Eneloop batteries and MAHA chargers are as good or better than FP's black batteries.
I have since my FX3 and still do use FP's products.
You have helped many, myself included, and I and we and I thank you for your contribution to this forum.
I wish you good health and good hunting too.
